Sidney’s Triple Shot (Apache Crossing #1)

By Lori King

Synopsis

Sidney Rowe has been abused in ways that most people can’t even imagine. After a horrific miscarriage, she left behind everything she had to escape her ex-boyfriend. She finds refuge in the kindness of the three Dawson brothers. They give her a job and a sense of security in the small town of Apache Crossing.

Xavier, Tyce, and Noah Dawson have built their bar, Triple Shot, into a profitable enterprise. The three former Marines have also built a reputation for integrity in the community, but their sex appeal and charm are legendary. They enjoy their playboy status…that is until a jumpy, skittish Sidney stumbles into their lives needing their help.

Sexual tension explodes when the brothers decide they want to protect and share Sidney, but to have her they have to stop her ex from haunting her. Can they keep her safe and win her damaged heart?

Review

Loved this Menage romance, it had great suspense, humour and strong personalities from the four main characters.  There is a solid build up with their romantic and physical relationship, it was not rushed and was allowed to develop.

The three men, Xavier, Tyce and Noah all brought their own individuality to the relationship with Sidney.  I loved how they all in their own way assisted Sidney in moving forward from her previous relationship.

The suspense story that revolved around Sidney’s previous life provides great moments towards the end of the story.  I would have loved for her story to end where it started but in a happy moment for her and the men, like a rebirth of such.

Sidney’s emotional state and moments where she falls apart are well written and show how the three men give her confidence.  When she begins to stand up for herself, sing, laugh and enjoy moments with the men are my favorites.

The menage scenes were hot, steamy but also full of emotional attachment.

I do feel that the ending was slightly rushed and I have a few questions, perhaps they will be answered in the next book in the series.  There are certainly many characters, their marine friends,  that could have their own story.

With her whole town behind her, Rachel is ready to make her stand. It’s time for her to get back in the saddle and ride.

Review

This is a re-release of Three to Ride.  I loved this book the first time I read it and loved it even more this time.  This ménage has so much heart, humour, suspense and sacrifice. These three are perfect for each other.

Rachel is a strong character that has an incredible will to survive.  Though her life is thrown into complete turmoil she manages to find the good in people, even those who have a gruff exterior (a.k.a Max).  She just has to get past the fact the Max’s brother is the sheriff in Bliss.

Max has got the entire town of Bliss fooled into thinking he is this short tempered and bad behaved man.  It just takes the right woman to show who the real Max is.

I love Rye.  He is Max’s twin and he is willing to sacrifice the type of relationship he would have with the woman of his dreams and his brother.  Rye wants to make sure the Max is happy.

Lexi writes so much depth into each character.  Bliss may be a fictional place but after reading these books it seems so real. And I love the additions she made to the story.  I love the blending of the Masters and Mercenaries into this series.

Sexy Jerk (Sexy Jerk World # 1)

By Kim Karr

Synopsis

My best friend is married.
Everyone I know is married. It doesn’t bother me. I like my life the way it is.

Since I’m single though, when my best friend and her husband finally decide to go on their dream honeymoon, she asks me to watch their three-year-old son.

Of course I say yes.

What my best friend neglects to tell me is that I won’t be babysitting alone.

Feeling Max might be too much for me to handle, her husband asks his only single friend to help.

Nick Carrington and I have met a couple of dozen times. I’ve never really given him a second thought—other than to say he’s kind of a jerk. Out loud. So he can hear. Sure, he’s tall, dark, and handsome. And yes, he has the best ass I’ve ever seen, and I mean ever seen quite literally. You see he mooned me at last year’s Fourth of July barbecue because, like I said, he’s a jerk.

He always has to be the life of the party.
He’s also arrogant.
Imposing.
Rich.
And a playboy.
I’d even go as far as to say he’s a manwhore.

Yet somehow before I know it, this manwhore and I are co-parenting. Living under the same roof. Eating meals together and yes, talking.

Don’t look at me like that—it’s not like I had a choice. Even though I knew every minute would be hell, I had to say yes.

But after two weeks what I didn’t expect is that I’d been wrong about him.
That under his smart-ass exterior, he’s quite charming.
That his arrogance is actually confidence.
And that the sight of his naked body would do really bad things to me.

So yes, I’ve misjudged him. And yes, I like him. Really like him. Although there are times I still think he’s a jerk…I now think he’s a sexy jerk.

And I want more of him.

The question is—does he want more of me?

Review

I’ve been struggling for days with what to rate SEXY JERK, and in the end I’ve decided to give it just 2❤️, because days after finishing the book, all I can think about are the issues I had with this story.

Character wise, I liked Nick, but I didn’t like Tess.  She was irrational and very easy to anger and upset.  Tess has hated Nick since the first time they met because he was a jerk, which makes no sense because we learn about their first meeting, and Nick was really nice.  He asked if he could buy her a drink, she said yes, he went to get it, then her boyfriend comes over and takes her away.  But somehow he’s a jerk?  Personally, I think she’s a bitch for accepting a drink from another man when she has a boyfriend.

Speaking of jerk, I get that Nick is supposed to be a jerk (he’s not), but I got annoyed at how many times he was called one throughout this story.  At my count, he was called a jerk twenty-two times.

There are two threesome scenes that didn’t work for me, and I’m wondering if they were added purely to increase the kink factor.  The first scene was when Tess reminisces about her first sexual experience, which was with twin brothers when she was just seventeen.  That scene came out of nowhere and really threw the story off.  It seemed to make sense a few chapters later when Tess thinks to herself that Nick brings out her kinky side, a side she’s been suppressing since her time with the twins.  The second scene involved their friends: Fiona, Ethan and Jace.  Fiona and Ethan are happily married with a child, but one day they just decide they want to bring Jace into their bed.  Why?  Because he and Ethan used to share women in college, and since Ethan’s wife died, he’s been lonely and they don’t want him to feel lonely anymore.  Again, it came out of nowhere, did not fit with the story and I thought it was weird and icky.

I like sex with my romance, but there was a lot of sex in this story.  A lot.  I started skimming through them because I had reached my limit and just wanted to get back to the story.  Even the epilogue had a sex scene that spanned several pages.

There’s a suspense element that involved Nick’s biggest real estate rival, which I thought was promising.  But after watching the suspense build throughout the story, it was anticlimactic to see it quickly tidied up in the epilogue.  There was even another person close to Nick who was involved, but you never hear about him again once Nick realizes what the “double agent” has been doing.  So even though the rival issue was resolved, it had an unfinished feel to it.  Almost like the author hit a wall and just decided to throw on the ending.

SEXY JERK is told in dual POVs and does come with a HEA for Nick and Tess.  While I didn’t enjoy this book, I would give this author another go, but I won’t be continuing on with this series.

Review

First of all, I love the new covers of this re-released series, they are very attractive and fresh.

Siren in the City continues on from Small Town Siren and the relationship between Jack, Sam, and Abby that has hit a rocky patch.  Jack is definitely a different man to the one we left in book one.

I loved how Sam and Abby playfully get Jack to return to the dominant man they want back.  Sexual scenes in this book definitely felt more demanding and sensual with Jack returning as a Dom.   As Jack wheeled in a case for Sam it was so hilarious and it made me laugh out loud.

Julian is a wonderful character and to see Jack returning to the inner world of Domination helped to understand his fears for his relationship.

Siren in the City flows fast and introduces new characters that are going to help continue this series with decadent menage stories.

Concluding with a lovely surprise, Siren in the City was very satisfying.  I am sure we will see more of these three in the next Texas Sirens installment which just happens to be Julian’s story.

Review

First of all, I Love the newly revised cover and I had not read the previous version of this story released under Sophie Oak.    Upon finishing I have many questions and I do hope Siren in the City (book 2) will intensify Sam, Jack and Abby’s love story.

The connection between Sam and Abby I felt to my bones, he was caring and had humour and their interactions were lovely.

At times I found Jack hard to connect with, he was definitely an alpha male and has many underlying issues.  Hoping that in book 2 we uncover more of Jack and how his relationship with Sam and Abby is going to develop.

Jack, Sam & Abby’s sex scenes were well written and pushed all the right buttons.  When they all joined as one in the bedroom this was a favourite moment because this was very emotional and worth the build up.  Whilst Sam immediately connected to Abby’s distress, unfortunately, Jack did not which I did struggle with being he was the Dom in this group relationship.

Abby’s history with the town and the way people treated her broke my heart at times.  She was such a strong woman to bring up her daughter all by herself.  We do get to meet her daughter at the end of the story.

I will have to admit I was left slightly disappointed with the 6-week jump at the end of this story.

Winter of the Wolf (The Wild Hunt Legacy #2)

By Cherise Sinclair

Synopsis

After years in foster care, Breanne Gallagher has the stable life she’s always wanted, living with her foster-sister, working as a chef, enjoying her comfortable routines. Then one devastating night, a hellish creature invades her apartment and shatters her fragile existence. Shifting between monster and man, it slaughters her foster sister and assaults Bree. Alone, wounded, her beloved home tainted by gruesome memories, Bree flees to a tiny wilderness town, following her only clue to her past.

Shapeshifting warriors, Zeb and Shay move from one pack to another, hunting the hellhounds which prey on their kind. Assigned to Cold Creek, they take over management of a decrepit fishing lodge for their “human” cover. Their first renter is a pretty human female who trembles at the sight of them—yet stands her ground. Furious at the hurt they see in her eyes, the protective nomads are drawn into helping her. Although no shapeshifter is ever attracted to a human, her scent is oddly compelling, and her ferocious determination to conquer her fears ignites longings neither loner ever expected to face.

Bree is healing, learning to shoot the biggest pistol she can find, and overcoming her fears, especially of the two deadly, disconcertingly attractive hunters. Her life is getting back on track…until she tries to save a little girl from a hellhound and discovers everything she knows about herself is false.

Review

Winter of the Wolf being book 2 of the Wild Hunt Legacy had everything a romantic paranormal I love had.

Zeb and Shay were totally alpha, however, they were incredibly protective of Bree and fought their way to finding a home.

Winter of the Wolf although a romance also includes a couple of side storylines.  One included the local wolf pack and its dynamics and changing of the guard.  The Wolf Pack runs and the interactions at these times provided great action.

At the beginning when we first meet Bree the hellhounds are introduced.  Action and drama are continued throughout with  Zeb and Shay hunting them down.  Zeb and Shay definitely fought Bree’s demons and slowly allowed her to be able to feel safe again.

It was great to see Vicki, again and how she is adapting to her life as a shifter. When Callum assisted Bree in a  heartwarming manner at her first Gathering I felt such relief for her.

Bree’s family history was interesting along with how she grew up, she had such a compassionate and nurturing personality.  Personally, Bree was very easy to connect to from the first chapter.  Bree cooking, caring and assisting Zeb and Shay in the lodge business was just heartwarming.

This story flowed well for me providing high and low moments.  The sexual chemistry between these three was sensual, romantic but also highly erotic at times.

In conclusion, Winter of the Wolf continues the Wild Hunt Legacy series in an easy to read and was highly enjoyable.

Double Trouble

By Sierra Cartwright

Synopsis

One love. One obsession. Double the trouble.

This time, he won’t take no for an answer.

For three years, Daniel Armstrong has wanted the beautiful, fiery Bridget Kelly. But when he sees her at Houston’s premier BDSM club and realizes she has an interest in submission, his determination reignites. A charity auction provides a means for him to possess her and do good at the same time. Who could resist? Focused solely on Bridget and the decadent delights he intends for her, he outbids everyone to claim her.

Helpless, trapped by the glare of a spotlight at an auction she never agreed to participate in, Bridget is stunned when bidding for a weekend with her goes higher and higher.

She’s frantic when she realizes the gorgeous, successful Daniel Armstrong has won her. For years, she’s been attracted to the renowned heartbreaker, but she’s kept him at a distance to protect herself.

Then one night, she sees him at a BDSM club, and there’s no doubt he recognizes her submissive tendencies. Now that the devastating Dom knows her naughty desires, she’s doubly determined to avoid him.

When he claims her, she believes things can’t get worse. Then he introduces her to his identical twin, Jacob. Suddenly, she’s faced with not one, but two men determined to make her every fantasy come true and take her to the heights of submission.

Review

Double Trouble I thought had everything that would make a hot, steamy and highly connected menage romance. Twin brothers and a stubborn and independent woman having a wild weekend away together.

Whilst I enjoyed the overall story I have to admit that I found it hard to connect to the leading lady, Bridget. There was a moment in chapter 11 where she showed her depth of emotion and feeling for the guys and I was thought we were finally turning a corner. She was devastated with the way Daniel ended the weekend and I too felt incredibly sad for her.

The guys Jacob and Daniel were characters easy to connect with and their brotherly banter was a favourite part.

The story flowed very quickly, perhaps too much towards the end as it did feel slightly rushed. I would have enjoyed seeing how these three business people moved forward in their lives together juggling their BDSM lifestyle.

Being a BDSM story there was plenty of intense erotic scenes however I felt there was not enough after care. Perhaps that is where we may have seen more emotional connection between the characters. I really wanted Daniel and Jacob to show more loving care to Bridget and not all the time their Dom tendencies.

If you are looking for a quick and easy BDSm read you will enjoy Double Trouble.

Wicked Envy (Wicked Horse Vegas # 3)

By Sawyer Bennett

Synopsis

Two men. One woman.
A sinful playground called The Wicked Horse.

Entrepreneur turned millionaire, Dane Hawthorne, has been known to get his kicks at The Wicked Horse Vegas, and he has no shortage of beautiful women waiting for a shot at him. Driven to succeed, no matter if he’s in the boardroom or the bedroom, Dane never backs down from a challenge.

Avril Carrigan isn’t the type of woman to take risks in her personal life but after a broken heart and too much liquid courage, Avril decides to best way to get over one man, is to get under another. Looking to experience all the debauchery she’s heard about from her best friend and business partner, Dane, she requests one thing of him—take her to The Wicked Horse.

The request seems simple. One friend helping another in her time of need. But now that they’ve crossed the threshold, things aren’t as easy as they once seemed. Not only is Dane looking at Avril in a new light, but so is their other business partner and best friend, Andrew Collings. As Dane’s envy blooms, he wonders if he made the right decision when he agreed to show Avril his wicked world.

What happens when the lines of friendship are blurred and boundaries are crossed? Will their relationships survive or will jealousy tear them all apart?

Review

I’m just going to come right out and say it: I couldn’t really get into WICKED ENVY.

I love a good threesome as much as the next girl, and the sex between Avril, Dane and Andrew was some of the hottest sex I’ve read in a long time.  As in it’ll give you tingles and make you want to reach for your husband/boyfriend/B.O.B. hot.  That being said, I did find it a little unbelievable that Avril’s first time trying anal was during a DP and that she was able to handle it like a pro.

What I couldn’t get my head around, and what ultimately affected my enjoyment of this story, was the sudden sexual relationship between Avril, Dane and Andrew after seventeen years of friendship.  Why?  Because in all that time, they’d never really had any sexual thoughts about one another, nor had any of them been secretly in love with one of the others, but one day they all just decide to start sleeping together.  All the while promising that it wouldn’t affect their friendship, while at the same time believing that their bond (a word that was overused throughout this book) would be even stronger because of the sex-without-emotions they were now sharing.  It was just so out of the blue and I wasn’t feeling it at all.

WICKED ENVY is told in the POV of all three friends and does come with a HEA, though it wasn’t the ending I was expecting.  I blame myself for that, because if I’d taken a better look at the cover and synopsis, I would have known in advance how this was going to end.  WICKED ENVY is the third book in the Wicked Horse Vegas series, but it can be read as a stand-alone without any problem at all.  While I may not have enjoyed this story as much as the others, that’s not going to stop me from reading the next book in the series.

Theirs to Take (Blasphemy #4)

By Laura Kaye

She never expected to find herself desiring the sexy, hard-bodied builders, but being around Jonathan and Cruz reminds Hartley of how much she longs for connection. If only she could decide which man she wants to pursue more…

As their attraction flashes hot, Jonathan and Cruz determine to have Hartley for their own. But the men’s erotic world is new and overwhelming, and Hartley’s unsure if she could really submit to being both of theirs to take…forever.

Review

I read Theirs to Take in one day, could not put this down as I simply loved this.

Being paced perfectly their connection is believable and also due to the three characters having a common interest being sailing.  The timeline given over the course of this book builds their relationship to that level of Hartley’s submission working.

Hartley was a strong and independent woman but lacked that romantic connection in her life.  Jonathan and Cruz were so dominant but nurturing to her which made their connection wonderful.  The male bond between these two men is something that was my favorite component of this story.

Off the charts, hot is the sexual menage scenes and are some of the best I have read in a long time.  Admittedly I have not read the first three books in this series but will be. This is standalone in the series as I did not feel I was missing any important information.  We do get to meet other characters from previous books but it makes me want to go back and read their stories.

Synopsis

An unconventional love is tested to its limits in this completely immersive dark ménage suspense, for fans of JL Perry and Pepper Winters.

Mateo is used to being in the spotlight, he craves it in everything he does . . . except when it comes to his love life – that is firmly in the closet.

Tomas shuns the spotlight, the one he was born into, he wants nothing to do with it or his high-flying family who now reject him for his choices in love.

But Tomas’ and Mateo’s carefully constructed lives are turned inside out when they discover a beautiful, battered woman on their doorstep. The woman with the sapphire eyes has no memory of who she is or how she got there. Can they help her remember before the men who are after her find her first?

The first standalone book in the BRATVA JEWELS series from the author of the DIRTY TEXAS books, JA Low.

Review

Sapphire is an incredibly dark, dangerous and highly emotional read.   You are given some very intense and brutal scenes surrounding women that even I struggled with at times.

The menage scenes between Tomas, Mateo and Sapphire were very erotic however still held such warmth and emotion.  All three characters connection was built up at a slow and sensual pace.  I, therefore thoroughly enjoyed the time they spent together in their home.

The mystery surrounding Sapphire at the beginning of the story jumps times at the right places and you are in for a very wild ride.

The Bratva story is simply heartbreaking and will at times be hard to stomach but this is a dark romance.

Sapphire although a standalone concluded with the introduction of the next story’s dramatic turn of events for two supporting characters.
