Review

Until November is a wonderfully romantic story that I could not put down.  It had all the elements for me of an easy romantic read, family, friends and great passion.

November is a beautiful character and to follow her making a new life with her dad gives you all the good feelings.  She is such a generous and lovely character and I immediately connected with her.   She is not overly dramatic, she is honest and stands up for herself.

Asher is all alpha goodness and the way he makes November believe she is beautiful gives you all the good feelings.  Asher and his brother’s relationship provide great humorous moments.  The brothers are so protective of November and it is great to follow their friendships develop.  Another two great characters were Asher’s mum and dad who give November more family that she missed out on.  I was surprised that November’s dad did drop out of the story but then we were centered around November and Asher.

The way Asher accepts Beast into his life and moves November into his house makes you love this big tough guy.

There is a suspense story in the background for November that will keep you guessing.

I cannot wait to read all he brothers romance stories.  The Until series is going to provide some great Alpha romance.

Cold, hard and utterly ruthless, Rocco is the most dangerous of men. Feelings are a luxury he cannot afford—until a chance encounter brings him face to face with the only woman who found her way into his heart and touched his soul.

When Rocco walks back into her life, she wants nothing to do with the man who betrayed her and broke her heart. But only Rocco can protect her from the dangerous forces that seek to destroy her family. Can they escape the hands of fate closing around them? Or will love be the kiss of death for them both?

Review

Rocco is a great mystery Mob Romance with lots of action, twists, and surprises. I did not pick the links in the story and I was definitely surprised with the end.  I have not read the other two books in this series.

Grace and Rocco had great chemistry and a beautiful and tragic history. Grace had strong characteristics and was independent, she was easy to love. The personal story around Rocco did make me sad and also incredibly angry for him.

Throughout the story when Grace and Rocco area intimate,  it does have a balanced mix of sensual and frantic lovemaking.

The mob characters at times overtook the romance story, however, we do get a happy ending. I am incredibly intrigued to know about Rocco’s true family, it is left hanging.

Throughout the story, at times you are taken back to when Grace and Rocco first meet which helps connect the whole mob storyline.

Locked

By Clarissa Wild

Synopsis

People say I’m ferocious. Wild. Dangerous.
They’re right. That’s why I live on an island alone.
The jungle is my home. My personal prison.
Until she arrived.
The moment her helicopter crashed on my land, everything changed.
She’s the only survivor … And I’m keeping her locked up in a pit.
It’s been too long since I last touched a woman, especially one so beautiful.
It makes me hunger for her.
I want her … So I’ll keep her …
And I’ll make her mine.

Review

This story is definitely Dark and mysterious. It has all the action and drama of the helicopter crash and being held in the cave.  Unfortunately, after this, the story became somewhat repetitive in her attempts to flee the island and their subsequent makeup sex.

Told in dual POV, this definitely assisted in understanding each character’s actions and thoughts.

I struggled with parts of this story, especially Lock and his understanding and knowledge of the outside world.

Personally, the second half of this story flowed better for me.  I believe I would have understood Lock more if his past was briefly explained at the start.

I have not read any other books linked to this story.  In hindsight, I would have enjoyed this more if I had read Ella & Cage’s story first?

In conclusion, Locked neatly ties up this relationship and I am left with no questions.

Saved (Honor Bound Book 1)

By Angel Payne

Synopsis

He saved her life…she saved his soul.

Garrett Hawkins is the most valuable asset to his Special Forces unit, because, frankly, the guy doesn’t care if he lives or dies anymore. Since the love of his life, Sage Weston, was kidnapped and killed with her medical unit a year ago, Garrett has turned the shell of his soul into the armor of a finely tuned fighting machine. Being the first tapped for the unit’s craziest missions is just fine by him. The less time for memories and the agony they carve into his soul, the better.

It’s a plan that works, until Garrett’s world is upended one night in the jungles of Thailand. Memories become reality when the unit is called to rescue a group of kidnapped aid workers, and they discover Sage and her teammate among the retrieved women. Now that Sage is back in his arms, Garrett doesn’t know what to do. He has changed in dramatic ways, especially in the darker tastes of his passion. If he touches Sage again, he’ll want to claim her, restrain her…dominate her.

Is Sage’s love strong enough to let Garrett back in, not only as her fiancé but her Dominant? Can she trust that visiting the new shadows of his life will lead her to ecstasy and not ruin? Or can Garrett’s discipline be exactly what her soul needs to find its way back to life—and love—again?

Review

I’m not sure what I was expecting with Saved the first book in the Honor Bound Series.  I choose this book because I have read another book by Angel Payne and loved it and instantly knew I had to read more by her. This book started with a bang and just keep going. In the beginning it became abundantly clear that this book was going to take you on emotional highs and lows.

My heart broke for Garrett.  He loved Sage so much and then lost her.  Not only did her loss her but also his whole reason for living.  He became a shell of a human being.

Sage was the perfect match for Garrett but after being gone for so long and basically coming back from the dead they had to find a new way to be together.

This book had so many great moments.  I loved the strength of all the female characters and the realization the male characters could also use time to heal from past wounds.  I loved Sage in the way that she was not going to give up on Garrett and was willing to try new things to keep them together.  I am so excited to read Zeke and Rayna’s story and then Ethan’s story.

Winter of the Wolf (The Wild Hunt Legacy #2)

By Cherise Sinclair

Synopsis

After years in foster care, Breanne Gallagher has the stable life she’s always wanted, living with her foster-sister, working as a chef, enjoying her comfortable routines. Then one devastating night, a hellish creature invades her apartment and shatters her fragile existence. Shifting between monster and man, it slaughters her foster sister and assaults Bree. Alone, wounded, her beloved home tainted by gruesome memories, Bree flees to a tiny wilderness town, following her only clue to her past.

Shapeshifting warriors, Zeb and Shay move from one pack to another, hunting the hellhounds which prey on their kind. Assigned to Cold Creek, they take over management of a decrepit fishing lodge for their “human” cover. Their first renter is a pretty human female who trembles at the sight of them—yet stands her ground. Furious at the hurt they see in her eyes, the protective nomads are drawn into helping her. Although no shapeshifter is ever attracted to a human, her scent is oddly compelling, and her ferocious determination to conquer her fears ignites longings neither loner ever expected to face.

Bree is healing, learning to shoot the biggest pistol she can find, and overcoming her fears, especially of the two deadly, disconcertingly attractive hunters. Her life is getting back on track…until she tries to save a little girl from a hellhound and discovers everything she knows about herself is false.

Review

Winter of the Wolf being book 2 of the Wild Hunt Legacy had everything a romantic paranormal I love had.

Zeb and Shay were totally alpha, however, they were incredibly protective of Bree and fought their way to finding a home.

Winter of the Wolf although a romance also includes a couple of side storylines.  One included the local wolf pack and its dynamics and changing of the guard.  The Wolf Pack runs and the interactions at these times provided great action.

At the beginning when we first meet Bree the hellhounds are introduced.  Action and drama are continued throughout with  Zeb and Shay hunting them down.  Zeb and Shay definitely fought Bree’s demons and slowly allowed her to be able to feel safe again.

It was great to see Vicki, again and how she is adapting to her life as a shifter. When Callum assisted Bree in a  heartwarming manner at her first Gathering I felt such relief for her.

Bree’s family history was interesting along with how she grew up, she had such a compassionate and nurturing personality.  Personally, Bree was very easy to connect to from the first chapter.  Bree cooking, caring and assisting Zeb and Shay in the lodge business was just heartwarming.

This story flowed well for me providing high and low moments.  The sexual chemistry between these three was sensual, romantic but also highly erotic at times.

In conclusion, Winter of the Wolf continues the Wild Hunt Legacy series in an easy to read and was highly enjoyable.

Castle of Kings

By Betty Shreffler

Synopsis

Jake F*cking Castle
When he walks into a room, he owns it. He consumes my very breath and melts my delicate little panties. From the moment he set eyes on me, he decided I was his. No one – not even my brother, Nix – was going to tell him otherwise. It doesn’t matter that Nix is President of the Kings MC Club. Jake wants what he wants, and he’ll set out to get it, whatever the cost.
Jake may be an arrogant asshole, but there’s no denying the hold he has over me. His fierce, carnal need to make me his, and his alone, is a snare I can’t escape. And truth be told, I don’t want to.
But when my life becomes threatened, Jake Castle is the only man my brother trusts to protect me. He knows Jake will do anything to keep me safe.

Review

Castle of Kings is the first MC Romance for Betty Shreffler and the first one for me to read.  Liz is the sister of Nix who leader of The Kings MC Club. She just got back from school and her bother has some of the club bothers that he thinks she should meet.  One of those bothers does not include Jake Castle. As soon as Jake saw Liz he knew that she was special. Throw in trouble for a rival club and you have a mixture for an intense relationship.

I instantly fell for Jake.  He is arrogant and possessive. And you can’t help but want to make him the center of your world.  Jake understands the dangers of his world and his only desire is to make sure that Liz is safe.  I also love his nickname for her.

I loved Liz.  She is tough but she understood this MC lifestyle having grown up in it.  She has great friends around her.  She also has a great brother who only wants to see her safe and happy.

I have to say that this was a very quick read for me.  I couldn’t put this book down and I really wish that I had a Jake to take me for a ride on his bike. This relationship is intense. They understand each other.  Even though Nix doesn’t like it, he knows that Jake will keep her safe.  I can’t wait to see what Betty has in store for us next.

Hour of the Lion (The Wild Hunt Legacy #1)

By Cherise Sinclair

Synopsis

As a dedicated covert ops agent, Victoria Morgan follows two rules: accomplish the mission and protect the innocent. When bitten by a werecat—yeah, that was a sucky day—she must investigate beings that shouldn’t exist and are hard as hell to identify. Just how can she tell if a person is human–or an animal-shifter who enjoys Bambi-sized snacks?

During her investigation, she finds a real home and friends for the first time. Sweet, right? But there’s a flip-side: the bad guys are waiting for her to turn into something four-legged with a tail, the shifters suspect her of spying, and she has fallen in love with a pair of Thumper-eating werecougar brothers.

Her duty is to expose their existence. Or she could follow her heart and protect them with all of her deadly skills.

Review

Hour of the Lion was a fast-paced read with lots of mystery and action.  However, it also included moments of emotion and deep connection between characters that helped to build a wonderful romance story.

Vic was headstrong, bold, determined and an honorable woman who was very easy to connect with.  Her emotional detachment was explained well and it was really full-filing to watch her find her own family.

Alec and Calum are great shifter characters and independent of each other but when they tag team – the sparks definitely flew.  The sex scenes both individually and together with Vic were off the charts hot and steamy.  The gatherings and traveling to the mountain helped provide history and explanation for me.  Callum’s daughter was another highlight especially her interactions with Vic and also when they first shift.

My only complaint was the character being Wells as it felt a bit rushed towards the end for him and how quickly he changed his perspective.

In conclusion, I am looking forward to the next installment in this series as I would love to hopefully see Vic pregnant by these two incredible alpha men.

Marked for Death

By J C Valentine

Synopsis

Tiffany
Leading a nomadic life, I’ve been on the run from my rich ex-husband for years. I’ve learned every trick in the book, staying one step ahead of him and his trackers. He’s taken everything from me, and despite everything, I’ve managed to carve out a life. But he’s getting close again. It’s time to hit the road, to start over…but it looks like the universe has other plans.

Ryder
As Sargent at Arms, stalking the crazy man trying to kill my MC brothers is part of my job description. Protecting the club is what I live for. Unfortunately, today I’m the loser in our never ending game of cat and mouse. The last thing I remember before waking up in the emergency room is staring up at the sky while bleeding out onto the cold, hard pavement. Then the pretty nurse walks in and turns my world sideways, and those soft hands know just how to handle a big, angry biker like me. With a psycho on my tail, the stakes couldn’t be higher. I know I should walk away, but self-preservation has never been much of a strong suit. As my enemy closes in, I’ve got no gun, three bullet holes, and absolutely zero patience left. The question is, who will be the one to sign my death warrant—the crazy-ass biker who’s gunning for me…or the sexy-as-sin nurse I’ve got a hard-on for?

Review

A quick read that held me captive from the first page.  It ended far too soon for my liking.  I read this story in a day and could not put it down.

The chemistry between the two main characters provides moments of humour, passion, and friendship.  From their initial meeting to moving forward together covers around five or so days so it is intense.  Due to individual circumstances, they are both wanderers.  It was interesting for them both to realize they had found someone to have their back and heart.

Ryder owned every scene and he was such a strong presence particularly in his interactions with Tiffany.  Their time at the hospital and then, in particular, the cabin was highly entertaining.

Firstly there are two stories within this, one for Ryder and one for Tiffany.  The author neatly tied up Ryder’s story.  However, I am left slightly disappointed that Tiffany’s personal story is not fully explained.

In conclusion, I am so intrigued by her background that I will be waiting with baited breathe for her past and future to clash.

Complicated

By Kristen Ashley

Synopsis

When small town Nebraska sheriff Hixon Drake meets Greta Dare, the connection couldn’t be stronger, but the timing couldn’t be worse.
Dealing with the fallout of a divorce he never wanted and setting up a new home for his kids, Hix becomes that guy, that one he never wanted to be, and puts a stop to things before they can even start. Protecting his kids, and himself, is his only priority.
Greta, on the other hand, has found the place for her and the brother she adores that’s perfect for them—a sleepy little town in Nebraska. She’s learned from life that there are no hopes and dreams. The only thing to look forward to is peace. And that’s what she works hard to build for herself and her brother. Right up until Hix walks into her life.
Hix can’t fight the pull and stay away from Greta for long. And Greta’s finding it hard not to hope for something more with all the promise that is Hix.
But when the first murder that’s happened in over five decades rocks his small, sleepy county, Hix has got to learn to trust again, convince Greta to take a shot with him, and at the same time catch a killer.
In other words, things are definitely…Complicated.

Review

Complicated was definitely full of many different scenarios in life that make you ask if they are worth the risk.

Whilst not my favourite story by this author, it was still enjoyable.  My favourite parts involved Hix’s children along with Andy and Greta who was simply beautiful.

I admit I struggled to connect with Hix.  It was probably his first few interactions with Greta that shattered me.  I kept waiting for him to do it again however after Greta’s incident in her kitchen well he began to grow on me slowly.

One character Hope was simply childish and a pain in this story. She simply created so much drama it just wore me down.

Greta’s ex-husband was a character that I would have loved to have seen more of.  He would have filled in more gaps for Greta and my understanding of how she ticked.  It was not until she spoke of Andy and her life growing up that her desire for no children made sense.

My main complaint in this story is actually about Greta and her mother.  As their final moments as mother and daughter were being played out it left me unfulfilled and still upset.   Not making entire sense was the murder story. Perhaps if it was somehow linked to other characters in this story and not the way it was portrayed it would have made sense.

Finally, I was praying for a life-changing moment for Greta to happen to give her a wonderful complication but alas no.

Quote:  I’d finally found it. Something worth fighting for. And if I had to, I was going to fight for it. Because I was falling in love with complicated.

Misadventures of a Virgin

By Meredith Wild

Synopsis

Searching for purpose, he’s determined to put down roots and take over the struggling farm that’s been in his family for generations.

Time and distance haven’t taken the edge off his preoccupation with June, the spitfire daughter of his father’s rival. He hasn’t forgotten their time together and all the things they did and didn’t do. One look at her has him reconsidering the future and making a dangerous deal to win her over. Is a chance at her heart worth risking everything else?

Review

Misadventures of a Virgin is a mix of new adult meets second chance.  I just love Meredith Wild’s style of writing.  It really makes me never want to put the book down.  Kase and June are so perfect for each other.  They both have difficult family histories that need to come out before they can move forward.

I really loved Kase.  He is so complicated but he has only had eyes for June.  Unfortunately the timing was off when they first tried to get together and that left June confused.  Fast forward four years and Kase is back and he has a plan.

June was a fantastic mix of innocence and driven determination. She believes in her father’s vision for the hotel and wants to see it through so she agrees to Kase’s plan.

There is almost a story within this story that revolves around their fathers. It really got the kids to this point in their lives were the could start thinking about the future. I really love how Meredith put this story together.  She definitely put the right blend of emotion into this story.  The pacing was perfect.  I didn’t want to put this book down.  The last few chapters were the best.  And the sex scenes were hot with the right amount of kink.
