What he wants, he takes with no remorse or guilt.
She stood out in his club like a gem, unspoiled and untouched. A lamb among wolves, she clearly didn’t belong. Drawn to her innocence he watched as she was surrounded by men who saw what he did—but no one but him could touch her. He summoned her to his private quarters. He sensed her fear. He also recognized the desire in her eyes. And he knew she wouldn’t leave before he possessed her. She had no need to know his secrets. Not until he had her under his complete and utter control.
What he wants, she isn’t sure she can give him.
The moment he told her want he wanted, she couldn’t resist. Instinct told her to run, but her heart said stay and walk the fine line between pleasure and pain. Though she wasn’t sure she could ever completely surrender, the primal part of her wanted to try, even knowing this man could break her in ways she never imagined. Because once he possessed her, he owned her and it would be too late to turn back. She can only pray that he doesn’t destroy her in the end.
My Review
If you have ever read other series by Maya Banks like the KGI, Breathless or Sweet you will love this, it has mystery, domination, alpha men and a strong yet insecure and passionate loving lady.
Drake is dominating and Evangeline (aka Angel) is just pure, simple and honest and has the ability to make grown men fall at her feet with her simplicity of life but she definitely has claws when needed and stood up for herself – I loved her from the first chapter.
This was emotional and erotic, it made me squirm and feel emotions of want and need within myself. The connection between these two main characters was pure electricity and then Drake’s inner circle of friends/bodyguards was brilliant and I am simply shattered and feeling like I need therapy after that ending. The ending makes you curse however I have now added books two and three to my TBR list and now waiting with baited breath – I am willing to wait for Maya as she is so worth it.
Angel’s friends were utter bitches but at the end of this story I did wonder whether they knew more than what they were letting on considering one gave her the VIP pass in the first place.
I have so many questions about Drake and his men, can I say Maddox, Silas, Justice, Jax, Hatcher & Thane were such great characters, one of my favourite scenes was with cupcakes in Drake’s office – Angel just mesmerises all. Drake’s inner group of men could all have their own stories in my view they actually showed so much character in just their few encounters with Angel and also helped solidify her personality and help the reader understand her more.
One particular erotic scene was fantastic and will have you so hot and horny, it was brilliant and whilst reading the chapter I was imaging myself in that particular scene with a little of that for myself – take about hot hot hot.
The ending leaves me with many questions, I am secretly hoping for some major twists and turns, I know Drake and Angle are destined to be however there seems to be great obstacles in their way.
