Synopsis

Tall and thin, twenty-eight-year-old Bronwyn Palmer has become positively gaunt, a ghost of her former self. That self was?and still is?the wife of a rich, handsome executive with an ocean-view house and his own security staff.

It was in that house, two years ago, that Bryce Palmer learned Bronwyn was pregnant with their first child. But Bryce’s rage over his impending fatherhood touched off a chain reaction of emotional and physical traumas that wounded them both. For Bronwyn, it meant fleeing the perfect marriage to start over with nothing but a precocious daughter named Kayla to care for. For Bryce, it meant a tortuous two years spent blaming his wife for deserting him, and living with the pain of not knowing his child. Now a chance encounter has brought Bronwyn back into Bryce’s life, both bearing scars?and neither knowing the whole truth of that fateful night that drove them apart.

Review

Book 2 of the Unwanted Series and it packs an emotional punch that will have your heart breaking and then being slowly put back together.

It was amazing at the start of this book, I was all for Bronwyn and I felt so sorry for her but by midway through I had such sorrow for Bryce and how his regret at the way he treated Bronwyn ate him up. I was devouring the pages as I wanted to find out how this husband was going to make his wife fall in love with him again, to address his own regrets.

Kayla, their daughter provided some light hearted moments to take the edge of some really emotional scenes.  Sometimes children annoy me in a  romance story, Kayla I fell in love with right along with Bryce, my how Bronwyn fought so hard for this child and their connection between mother and daughter was beautiful.

This story flowed really well for me, there was underlying sexual tension throughout the book which was well written and I was pleasantly surprised with how the author made these characters address their issues instead of just jumping into bed together, it was a real journey of repairing trust in order for them to move forward.

Favourite Quotes:

He had trustingly laid his beautiful, wounded soul into her keeping, and she would protect it fiercely.  “There you are”, she whispered wonderingly as the edge of her lips tiled up int the tiny smile. “I’ve been looking for you”.

“There’s the man I married”.
