Synopsis
Sometimes the past bleeds into the future.
Bess, a wild party girl running from herself, literally falls victim to her demons when she collapses in the most unexpected of places.
Lane, a tightly wound, up-and-coming CEO who can’t seem to stop enabling his brother, doesn’t know what hit him when Bess falls at his feet and into his life.
It was a night she doesn’t remember, and one he can’t forget.
But rather than stay and help the needy college coed, Lane decides to teach his brother a long overdue lesson––a decision that later comes back to haunt him and only adds fury to the transgressions of his past he is already fleeing from.
Years later, Bess and Lane meet again. She doesn’t know him, and he doesn’t share that he knows what happened on that ill-fated night when she almost died. After all, he has a web of complicated lies from his own youth to protect.
Both are seeking salvation in the arms of others and ignoring the truth—that the only road to redemption lies in confronting your past.
When the past and present collide, is there any chance at redemption?
My Review
Firstly Cover is Beautiful, it is what drew me into reading the synopsis.
The best thing about this story is the layers of characters that in a sense need each other to rise to the challenges that life has thrown their way, meet obstacles, face demons, provide comfort and ultimate happiness and love. Bess and Lane’s romantic physical scenes were spot on, I loved the tender but also the passionate heat of the moment, some of just the kissing scenes got me seriously worked up and then when Lane grew a beard and went downtown wholly hot dam, one moment we are passionate and then curve ball emotions are thrown our way, it definitely kept me turning those pages into the night.
Bess and Lane, Camper and Jake and of course AJ and let’s not forget Brooks Bailey all provide great moments within this story and one of the best components that enabled me to totally connect was that we got Bess, Lane and AJ’s perspectives – you truly needed this as a reader for this type of story to understand where these emotions and feelings were heading. I am so happy the time frames in this romantic relationship were realistic and probably spot on for these characters with all their issues and how they were really quite protective of their hearts and controlling compulsions.
Bess and Lane, two broken people, this was a truly beautiful romance journey to read, yes it was sad and hard at some stages to follow these two characters through some pretty dark times but it was so worth it, the ending of this was outstanding , thank you for giving us proper closure for the characters – love when authors do that.
AJ was a character I watched with intrigue and to see him explode and repair himself was an integral part of this story, he was one character that I was probably the most conflicted about.
Jake, well can I say I will be reading his story and I need to know more about the twins interesting combination and what part is Camper taking, we have not seen the last of her maybe?
Bess is beautiful to me, weak yes but also incredibly strong to slowly put her life back together after so epically failing at a point in time with bad decisions. The way she controlled her entire life with meticulously timing and planning was so spot with the characteristics she was fighting to repair herself physically and mentally.
I just cannot rave about this enough, once started you will want to ride the journey to redemption.
