Synopsis
The pain was unbearable, but I had to keep moving. I had to keep running because, if I didn’t, he’d find me. I looked behind me as I ran through the streets; scared, alone, and in the dark as the mist of rain hit my face. There was no time to think, and there was no time to stop. My shoes were soaked as they sloshed through the puddles of the dimly lit streets.
My name is Rory Sinclair, and the night I was violently attacked was the night that changed my life forever. One man, a man named Ian Braxton, made it his mission to heal me, to save me, and to show me a world that previously had been only a dream to me.
Ian Braxton is far from perfect. He’s a self-absorbed, demeaning, arrogant, and a womanizing millionaire. He makes it so easy to hate him, but so very hard to resist him. We’re from opposite sides of the spectrum. He comes from money and I come from poverty. When our worlds collide, his struggles become mine, and mine become his, leaving us with one question:
How much would you give up to be with someone who was meant to be yours?
My Review
This is the third time I have read this book. I was feeling a bit fragile after reading two erotic romance novels with quite strong story lines. So I needed a bit of fluff and magical love as they say.
This is not my favourite series by this author, I adore her “Forever” with Connor and Ellery which makes me laugh and cry every time, that too is a “go to” series to make me feel happy again. Connor and Ellery actually make a visit in this series as Connor and Ian are business associates.
Do I love this story, yes and no, the sex scenes are hot for sure and Ian is very dominating and knows what he wants in his life and bed as they say. I suppose it is the realist in me that the start of this story just feels really out there in real life possibilities but then you keep reading and get sucked into the love affair as they say.
Rory is just a really tough character and she has to be considering the rough life she has had to endure. Ian has his issues due to his parents divorce and his dad is a real player. The second novel in this series is When I Lie with you and is just as romantic and life changing as this first book.
I am feeling happy again and ready to tackle another new journey. Sometimes you need to re visit your book friends to remember why you enjoyed them the first time.
