Synopsis
An old flame rekindled . . .
Zara Cinders always knew Ham Reece was the one, but he wasn’t interested in settling down. When she found someone who was, Ham walked out of her life. Three years later, Zara’s lost her business, her marriage, and she’s barely getting by in a tiny apartment on the wrong side of the tracks. As soon as Ham hears about Zara’s plight, he’s on her doorstep offering her a lifeline. Now, it will take every ounce of will power she possesses to resist all that he offers.
Ham was always a traveling man, never one to settle down in one town, with one woman, for more time than absolutely necessary. But Ham’s faced his own demons, and he’s learned a lot. About himself, and about the life he knows he’s meant to live. So when he hears that Zara’s having a rough time, he wants to be the one to help. In fact, he wants to do more than that for Zara. A lot more. But first, he must prove to Zara that he’s a changed man.
Review
Jagged is the shortest of this series or it felt like it for me as I did not want to leave Ham and Zara. It also was a change of pace at there was no dramas and mystery or serial killers like in the first four books.
I actually really enjoyed this couple and how it was all about them reconnecting and moving forward.
This of all the books was the one where I could not understand Ham’s reluctance to say those three words. When the author finally reveals his story it was a moment where my heart broke for that man.
Zara had a sad past and I loved Zander and his introduction to the story. So much of Zara and her sister had me in tears and Zara was such a headstrong and stubborn women.
Nina again returns to the series in all her lawyer awesomeness which I loved. I also admit I have not read February’s story which explains why I was unsure of who Ham was in the beginning. Lots of returning characters from Gnaw Bone like Arlene, Cotton, and Max provided humour and meddling moments.
Again, some may not love this as much as the first four books but it is a beautiful second chance romance. Jagged was two past lovers reuniting and moving forward and being easy.
My favourite moment was on the dance floor at the end, what a way to finished a love story – perfection – so happy for Ham
