Synopsis
The zombie apocalypse was Alexis Winter’s first challenge. It won’t be her last.
Life on S-Island hasn’t been easy, but Alexis and her fellow survivors are making the best of their new lives in a post-Z world. Every day is a struggle, a struggle to find food, to keep the zombies from their door and to prepare for anything this new world might throw at them. There is no room for heartache, there is no room for mourning the lost, there is only one focus: the fight for survival. And there is definitely no room for love. At least that is what Alexis keeps telling herself.
Be warned, there will be monsters, living and dead, there will be very intense sexy-time and there will be a third book.
Review
FIGHT is another great read in the NOLA Zombie series. Zombies, food and supplies are still major issues for the survivors living on S-Island, but we are introduced to a new danger. Something even worse than the zombies is holed up in a strip mall located not too far away. As rumours start coming in about what happens to the men, women and children taken to the camp, their own future and safety is a big concern that needs to be addressed.
Spoiler Alert: If you’ve read RUN, you know that Blake left Alexis to rescue his ex-wife, Clara. But if leaving wasn’t bad enough, the things he said to her as he was walking out the door were harsh, his words hurting her as much as his actions. He eventually returns and expects Alexis to be waiting for him, so he’s shocked to see that she is now with his best friend, Zack. Blake did rescue his ex-wife and picked up a few other survivors on the way back, but being the psycho bitch she is, Clara quickly stirs up trouble on the island. She’ll stop at nothing to win Blake back as she has plans to use his leadership to rule over S-Island.
I liked Zack, he was so patient and kind but also a demon in the sack. Alexis is a strong woman, a natural leader who has earned her top spot on the island. But how will their new relationship fare when Blake vows to win Alexis back and admits that he regrets his decision to leave? Only time will tell.
FIGHT ended in another cliffhanger that once again, I did not see coming. I’m pretty good at predicting where a book is going to go, but twice now Gillian Zane has surprised me with her cliffhangers. I love it and cannot wait for book 3.
