Review

Lucien is a very successful and wealthy businessman as well as the city’s most eligible bachelor, and Dahlia is drawn to him like no other. On the night of his photo shoot, he seduces her and uses his powers to ensure she’ll feel no pain when he takes her virginity and with every other kinky thing he does to her that night. However, one particular shot confirms that he’s something other than human, which Dahlia uses to extort more time from him.

At this point, I’m not sure how I feel about Lucien. You do see a very small glimpse of kindness in him, but most of the time he comes across as cold and almost evil. He prevented her from feeling pain during their sessions, but did nothing to ensure the pain would not return once she out of his presence. He also used her to take away her bargaining chip before abandoning her, despite their connection. I’m also not sure how I feel about Dahlia. She very quickly became obsessed with Lucien, but was it a case of falling for her first lover, or was something supernatural at play? He used her and yet she was desperate for more, willing to chase him for the crumbs he offered.

EXPOSED was an interesting story that has piqued my interest and I will continue on with the series. So why only 3 Hearts? Two reasons. Firstly, I know this is a novella which are always short, but I felt like there was something missing here. I can’t pinpoint what was “missing”, it’s just a feeling I have. Secondly, Lucien and Dahlia haven’t exactly won me over yet. Hopefully that will change with the next book.
