Synopsis

Maddie Chester is determined to leave her hometown of Gansett Island, a place that has brought her only bad memories and ugly rumors. Then she’s knocked off her bike on the way to her housekeeping job at McCarthy’s Resort Hotel by Gansett’s “favorite son,” Mac McCarthy. He’s back in town to help his father with preparations to sell the family resort and has no intention of staying long. When Mac accidentally sends Maddie flying over the handlebars, badly injuring her, he moves in to nurse her back to health and help care for her young son. He soon realizes his plans for a hit-and-run visit to the island are in serious jeopardy, and he just may be “maid” for love.

Review

Maddie is a single mother to her nine-month old son, Thomas. Thanks to a rumour started years ago in high school, she has a very bad reputation and is treated terribly by everyone on the island, including Mac’s family. Mac is a life-long bachelor forced to return home to Gansett Island for some R&R. Within minutes of his arrival, he causes Maddie to have a terrible accident that leaves her unable to work or to care for her son. Unaware of her reputation, he puts his holidays on hold to help her out and quickly learns the kind of person Maddie really is and the truth behind the rumour. As he spends more time with Maddie and Thomas, he realises that having a family and staying on the island is not as confining as he once believed it to be.

I love Marie Force’s Fatal Series, and while I wasn’t expecting the same action and hot chemistry we see in that series, I was surprised that this story was so dull. While there’s nothing wrong with MAID FOR LOVE, I have to admit I found it a little boring and maybe even a little cheesy. Mac and Maddie fall madly in love within a few days and he’s able to restore her reputation with just a single act. I have purchased the first three books in this series and will give them a try-hopefully the series will get better.
