Synopsis

Bridger Payne is an enigma that no one can figure out. Wise beyond his years, eerily intuitive and sexy as hell, every woman in The Silo wants him.

None can have him.
Not the real man, anyway.

He might wield the lash for you if you ask prettily, but he’ll get no gratification from it. He’ll definitely make you scream, but he won’t think twice about you when he walks away.

Bridger carries the darkest of secrets. He’s filled with too much pain.
He’s utterly untouchable.

Until she came along.

Review

Sometimes a series finale can be a hit, and sometimes it can be a miss.  WICKED BOND was definitely a hit.  It was a great ending to the series and I couldn’t put it down.

After reading Bridger’s epilogue in WICKED RIDE, it was obvious that his story was going to be rough.  If you haven’t read the previous book, you might want to look away now.  If you have read WICKED RIDE, you’ll know that Bridger was sexually abused by his stepmother as a teen.  That was just a taste, because in this story we learn everything he endured from the ages of nine to sixteen.  We also learn why he associates sex with pain and why he believes using his body for sex is an acceptable bargaining chip.  He has a few more sexual hang-ups that he can’t break free from…until Maggie.  He sees some of himself in her and because of that, he believes he can trust her with parts of himself that he’s never given to anyone by choice.

Maggie has also used her body to suit her needs and is not ashamed to admit it.  She’s a mother to an adorable two year old girl, and she’s willing to risk torture and death to protect her.  She shows Bridger how a mother should treat a child.  I got the feeling she’s wise beyond her years, and can see things in Bridger that most people don’t.  She knows when to push him, when to encourage him and when to back off.  She’s patient, giving Bridger the opportunity to open up to her on his terms, which is exactly what he needed.  I thought she was a perfect match for him.

WICKED BOND contains scenes where past rape, abuse and torture are thought about and/or discussed, which could be triggers for some people.  Take that out of the equation and the sex between Bridger and Maggie was hot.  Just hearing him telling her what he planned to do to her was hot.  There’s also a quick M/M scene involving Bridger, that meant nothing to him, but was still hot to read.  In short, the sex was hot.  WICKED BOND is told in dual POVs and is the final book in the Wicked Horse series that can be read as a stand-alone.  It ends with a lovely HEA where Bridger gets a life he never thought was possible.
