Stepbrother Obsessed

stepbrother obsessed

By Devon Hartford

I have read a great deal of StepBrother romances of late and this is my first by a male author and honestly it was a refreshing change.  The family dynamic was interesting in that Skye was probably closer to her step mother than her own father and I loved their relationship.  Catarina I found really comforting and sensitive and provided such a nurturing environment for Skye.

Dante and Skye ignite when together with heartfelt tenderness, passion and sexual chemistry.  I enjoyed the way their sex scenes were written, obviously Dante had more experience and Skye thank god was not a virgin but she was still a little innocent in some areas.

There were some intense and humorous moments within this story, loved the geek junior friends who helped Skye as they reminded me of The Big Bang Theory,  Skye’s strength whilst being bullied quite ruthlessly at school and her friendship with Rox were standouts for me.  The quite confronting physical scene in the lounge room was really emotional and I felt for her dad, he was only trying to do the best for his daughter.

Now saying the above some negatives for me were that I found the scenes at the waterpark too long and drawn out, I was also disappointed with the whole moment of confrontation after Dante leaves and her Dad enters her room late in the night.  I felt from this point the various storylines were tied up too quickly.  I picked the geeks playing a part early on and was simply waiting for them to help Skye when she yelled.

Personally I would have loved a few scenes told from her Dad’s point of view having conversations with Catarina so I could understand him especially when he went missing whilst Skye sat her exams –  I have so many questions!!  I know her Dad loved Catarina and their relationship was strained during this time.

Having said the above I really did enjoy this story and it is probably one of the most realistic.

StepSister Devotion Part Two

By Eve Cates

stepsister2

I could not put this down, once I commenced page one I could not leave Seb and Abigail, I was stuck in this world until the dramatic ending – again !!  When is part three coming, argh he left his phone, who will find it with that dam message, Eve Cates what are you doing to me?

StepSister Devotion Part Two picks up a few years along with Seb now a music star but we also get a back story of how this came about after the ending in Part One when he wakes up from turning 18 and having his heart broken.

I felt more connection in this part to Abigail and also can I say Seb’s music partner and her lover are great supporting characters in his life. I am so proud he has made his way in life with music and having his own money.

Cynthia his evil step mother is still a bitch but does not play such a big part in this story but I did enjoy the dance scene with Seb and Cynthia, interesting times I think are coming.  What is the story with the Aunty at the pre wedding dinner, does she know about Seb and Abigail? There were open ended questions at that dinner conversation or perhaps I was hoping?

I actually am loving Abigail and how we find out more about her family story, the expectations and connections since she was a teenager and good on Seb for making a stand.  OMG just had a thought, did they use protection, what is in Eve Cates mind for these characters? That is a question circling my brain and heart that keeps me coming back for more, what has she got in store for these tortured two lovers who cannot be together.

What will part three hold for us? It can only be more twists and turns, emotion and love, I cannot believe I have been totally sucked into this story – it truly is like a dirty little secret!

StepSister Devotion Part One

By Eve Cates

step stister

StepSister Devotion is a real, honest, in depth and emotional account of a forbidden romance between a step sister and step brother.  Seb and Abigail have literally been devoted to each other since their parents married each other, not physically but emotionally nurturing each other through their teenage years.

I enjoyed how it was told from Seb, the step brother’s perspective, how I would have loved though for a few chapters to be written from Abigail’s point of view in critical parts of the story, I think that would have helped me connect with her on  a deeper level, perhaps that is to come in the next book?  I desperately wanted to know how utterly torn she was about Seb and the life she is destined and expected to lead by her family.

Seb was quite a reflective and a sensitive soul obviously coming from his music ability and his strong connection to his mother and his desperate need for affection from his weak father.  We really do not find much out about Abigail and her expectations until the end and what a punch in the gut to Seb.  I found  her character a bit cold, I did not feel her depth of inner love for Seb so perhaps I have not warmed enough to her.  I am in Sebs corner to go out and find his place in life and show his father, step mother and Abigail what he is truly capable of as a man and human being.

Fair warning there is no HEA at the end of this first book but I did not feel unhappy about that as I am eagerly now awaiting the next instalment.   With the amount of emotion in this book I am glad the author kept it honest and real, not everything in life is secured by the time you turn 18 years old.    So many current step sibling books have a quick happy ending and I really believe this series is only going to get better as it evolves.

Seb’s dad is a character I am looking forward to understanding and learning  more about, he must have a story there and well Abigail’s mother is just an absolute bitch and I so want Seb to show particularly her how amazing he is.

As both characters are only 18 I did not get the erotic sexual hot and heavy connection I have in other step sibling romances of late but thinking this series will probably heat up in the coming books.  Having said that the sexual scenes were written well and were loving considering the emotional connection these two are fighting.

I also wish this first book was a bit longer.

Prick – A Step-Brother Romance

By Sabrina Paige

Is Caulter a Prick? Perhaps yes but I actually really liked his personality and charisma.  This is more than just the normal Step-brother and Step-sister romance as it is also about coming of age and following your dreams.

The chemistry between the two main characters was fantastic with so much underlying sexual tension I could not put this down.  The sex scenes were really well written and certainly got me a little hot in all the right places.

With Katherine (Kate) I had so much empathy for her, she lost her mum and she really is trying to be a good girl for her dad but in the same time is literally drowning in doing the right thing and not following her dreams.  Her dad really does expect her to be the perfect daughter in every way.  She has so much passion within her and she was simply a bright light within the pages of this story.

Thank god for Caulter and showing Kate a way to live life on the edge and take chances and he also helps in bringing out the real Kate to take a chance on living life’s journey to the fullest.

There is a good dose of humour, heartache and passion in this story and I truly enjoyed it.  The ending was clean and did not disappoint and this was simply a beautiful romance story with a bit of edge – loved it!

Please be aware of that before you read this book! If you do decide to go ahead, please keep an open mind. Inside each of us lurks a monster. We all have demons we hide from the world. We all need that one special person to look beyond the surface of the mask we wear and deep into our souls. I hope you enjoy Oliver and Maya’s story–that you will indeed peel back the layers and look beneath the surface.

My Review

Harlow Grace has delivered such an amazing story of two souls that really are broken after enduring tragedy and loneliness. They are loved by their individual parents yes but the inner demons these two battle is really intriguing.

Is Oliver the Monster Stepbrother to Maya or are they both trying to understand the cruel twist of fate that is handed to them.  They have both lost a parent, are headstrong, fiercely independent and feed off each other, it is so interesting to witness the explosive interactions with each other as they grow up.

Oliver is one angry young man when they first meet and then as they grow into young adults so too does the anger, confusion, connection and chemistry.  You will not find out the basis of his anger until well into the second part of the book and it all makes so much sense in that I actually forgave him for his actions.  Maya lives with a deep sense of ownership of her mothers death which in itself is born from her father – he was a strange character and I really felt as if I did not get to really know him – he was so absent.  When she breaks down throughout the book my god I had tears in my eyes along with her and found myself shaking with anger and pure frustration.

This story is quite heart breaking and two scenes that impacted me were Maya’s 18th Birthday along with when Oliver makes a life altering decision regarding his work and we see Maya and his mum say goodbye – cry bucket loads.

As the story progressed I must say Oliver’s mother to me is a standout character, I made the mistake of perceiving that woman in a particular way and was very surprised with her final part in this story.  Quinn too was a strong supporter for Maya and I am so excited that Harlow Grace will be writing a story about her.

This is a standout dark romance for me, it had emotion, erotic scenes, drama and ultimately self discovery of what you can overcome as a human being – just brilliant story telling – I could literally pick this up again and start over – I am such a glutton for punishment.

Stepbrother Untouchable

By Colleen Masters

untitled

Colleen Masters needs to allow me to sleep, I swear I pick up one of these books and literally cannot put them down, they are easy to read which I enjoy.  I really was interested to read this story having just finished Stepbrother Billionaire, I wanted to see whether she could change it up for me because sometimes (yes we have all read them) some similar series books from authors seem to end up the same with just name changes.

Well this is not that type of series, different environment to the first, this one is set at college, the book flows, yes their parents get married but is covers a period during college and then over the summer college break.  I like that there are more characters in this story considering she is doing a summer internship at her new stepfathers business which adds some interested male admirers to the mix.  There is also a different dynamic between the mother and daughter which I found intriguing and sad.

The best difference is the sex in this novel to the Stepbrother Billionaire, it is well written even considering she just happens to be a virgin.  When Bryn loses her virginity, for once it is not multiple sexual positions, not all fireworks and multiple out of this world orgasms but yes it is probably sweeter than what most of us experienced. Nate is a horn dog who is well versed in the female body and has a definite skill in pleasing the opposite sex.  Great news Nate uses condoms throughout all their sexual scenes which at their age is responsible, he does not groan about the fact and considering he really was a bit of a sex slut is refreshing.  Nate is gorgeous and a beautiful guy just damaged from poor relationship examples from his dad (who just to warn you is a complete dick).

This one perhaps did not hit me emotionally as Stepbrother Billionaire but Colleen Masters has given me another beautiful story of friendships, family and finding love and happiness in perhaps not the most normal of circumstances.

Stepbrother Billionaire

By Colleen Masters

Unknown

Synopsis

I’ve hated him since middle school.

The effortlessly popular, lacrosse superstar, beautiful, blue-eyed nightmare Emerson Sawyer. Funny thing is, he didn’t even know I existed until our senior year, when his mom started hooking up with my dad.

Now he torments me in the hallways, calling me “Sis” whenever he gets the chance, relishing in the fact that I can’t hide my blushing whenever he’s around. Even though I can’t stand him, my body betrays me–and he loves it.

Emerson and his mom just moved in with us, and as if crushing on him wasn’t weird enough, now our bedrooms share a wall.

The sexual tension keeps building between us, but I know nothing can ever happen…especially now that our parents are engaged. I try to tell myself that I hate him, that he’s wrong for me, that we’ll never be together…

So why did I agree to play Seven Minutes in Heaven at his girlfriend’s high school party?

And why does Emerson suddenly have my panties in his hands?
Stepbrother Billionaire is a Stand-alone novel. It contains adult themes, harsh language, and graphic sexual content.

My Review

Stepbrother Billionaire  – took my breath away & made my chest hurt, heart ache and put my iPad down and walk away to regroup.  It forced me to take a break as it gripped my chest and squeezed until tears formed in anger, loss, hurt and betrayal.  I then went and put on my big girl panties and picked up that iPad as Emerson and Abby needed me to continue on as they were forced to do.

Firstly don’t let the word Billionaire let you think it is all roses, private jet flights, limousines and bodyguards like in so many other stories with this title.  This is the first that is really all about the question of money and where you stand in life.  In the end Emerson yes makes money and succeeds in his life but there is so much more to read between the lines.  Abby and Emerson’s romance and story is based on one of life’s great challenges of where do you fit in, the haves and have nots, the privileged and those that have to fight for what they truly want and believe they can do.

This love story is basically split into two parts, their lives as teenagers about to finish school when Abby’s dad marries Emerson’s mom and then we are fast forwarded 8 years on – do you miss anything in that time frame I genuinely believe not, we get snippets of their life as adults working towards their dreams.

The scene where I literally could not breathe and had chest palpations was the day of their parents getting married and the next morning.  I swear on my grandmothers grave, I was so fragile from the way the author penned this – just brilliant storytelling.

Some reviewers think this is a sensitive subject, perhaps yes but the way I see it is technically they are not related and I love the Fallen Crest Series by Tijan so I have already popped my cherry so to speak with the fall in love with your hot, muscled, bad boy stepbrother – so bring on more Colleen Masters.

Fair warning too, you do not get too many between the sheets action but when they do the pages burn in your hands with emotion all the way.

If I could give this more than 5 Hearts I would and this is going into my to be read again pile.  Loved, Loved, Loved it.
