20351509

Synopsis

My mother tried to destroy me. She doesn’t exist to me anymore and my father, the one who raised me and the biological one, are both works in progress. The only two people that I can trust are Mason and Logan, and they’re the two people who I could lose. It won’t happen. I won’t let it. No matter the truth, no matter who loves me, I won’t let anything or anyone come between us.
They’re my world. They’re my life.
They’re my family

Review

Fallen Fourth Down made me fall further in love with Logan, I felt for him, we saw his emotional side especially with his misunderstanding of Sam’s withdrawal from hanging out and also how he missed Mason.

It was interesting to see how the power dynamic changed at Fallen Crest Public with Mason gone and how Sam finds her feet with the athletic department and I also really enjoyed her running and how it helped her cope.

Favourite parts in book 4 –

  • finding out the connection and history between Tate and Marissa and the OMG moment at the end of book 3.
  • Sam finally having a mother figure with her dad’s new partner who provided great humorous moments especially in her banter with Logan and also her son too.
  • Nate, Mason and Logan banding together in the end against a new threat – cannot wait for Fallen Crest University.

This is one of my all time favourite series – onto Book 5.

Review

My how the mighty have fallen in book 3, this is my most favourite book of the series so far, Sam moves to the Public school and all hell breaks loose!  This was my third time reading Fallen Crest Public and I still get goose bumps and hate/love characters and struggle with the bullying component of this book.

The first time after the physical bully scene I put the book down for two days, it simply affected me on a level, my how I hurt for Sam, Mason & Logan.  I felt such injustice and that Kate had to pay for the games she was playing with her friends at the Public School.

Is it wrong that I felt affection for Brett Broudou, he again is one character I enjoyed in this section of the series and he of course played an important role in securing Sam’s safety when pieces of the puzzle were starting to fall into place.  Mason, Logan and their gang played their cards close to their chests and when push came to shove they in my opinion were such an incredible team of friends – I was fist pumping all the way towards the end of the book.

This had great drama, mystery, game playing and had me again guessing.

Another favourite part of this story was Sam and her dad David, their beginning journey to reconciliation and perhaps a new life going forward together as Father and Daughter and I loved the new dynamic in David’s life being his new love and how she stepped up and was the carer for Sam in her recovery.

Onto Fallen Fourth Down and cannot wait to continue with Sam and Logan in their final year at Fallen Crest Public, want to follow Sam with her running and also find out more about Tate and her opinion on Logan’s love.

Hard Tackle

by Celia Loren

hard tackle

Synopsis

I tell him I’m not interested, that I hate football players, that I’ve already had my life ruined once by an athlete.

I’m not the cheerleader type, and I’m not impressed by his money, his fame, his charm, or his incredible good-looks. And I’m certainly not into the fact that he’s basically about to become my step-brother.

But apparently Jack Stratton doesn’t like to be told no. From what I’ve heard, no woman can resist Tampa Bay’s star tight end.

Needless to say, he’s not used to a girl like me telling him to go f*ck himself.

It’s bad enough our parents are getting married and I have to see him semi-regularly, but now he’s on probation and has to move back in with us to keep from boozing and whoring around too much…

It was easy to hold out before—to escape his advances and deny my own desires—but living under the same roof as Jack Stratton might prove to be harder than I thought…

This full-length Contemporary New Adult Sports Romance Novel is the first book in the Stepbrother Warriors Series. Can be read Stand-Alone. Contains explicit adult content, harsh language, and offensive themes.

My Review:

This was another really enjoyable read from the author for me.

The pace is good, has great central characters with personalities that easily made me connect with them especially Bree and her mother.  I must also say her new step father I particularly liked and it was great to not have all the over the top drama that some other stepbrother stories seem to have.  This felt a little more mature perhaps again because Bree came across as being quite mature for her age being that she has helped her mum in her business.

Bree is head strong, independent and also quite realistic about life and love and has all the usual hang ups and secret loves. It was interesting to follow her and Jacks no attachment rules play out and you kind of know how that will turn out with misunderstandings and the usual love drama.

Fair Warning cliffhanger of sorts at the end which introduces a whole new set of questions and new characters and I will definitely be following this series.

Step Brother Bastard (Hawthorne Brothers #1)

by Colleen Masters

stepbrother bastard

Synopsis

It started off as a dare…a harmless one-night-stand with a complete stranger. He was just another badboy I met in a bar, a harmless fling to start my summer vacation. One unbelievable night of sex, and I’d never have to see him again.

But the next morning as I pull up to the lake house my mom has rented for the summer, I get the feeling my world is about to crumble…it was just supposed to be us girls—me, my two sisters, and Mom…but we’re not alone…

Apparently my mom’s old high school sweetheart John owns the house, and he has three sons, all around the same age as me and my sisters. And they thought it would be a great idea to put us all together under the same roof for four weeks.

We’ll have to share bedroom walls, sit down for family dinners, and suffer through a million other forced, awkward, sexually confusing family activities I’m sure…

And then I realize my mom’s new boyfriend has a son a little older than me. I see him barreling toward me on a 4-wheeler, a lit cigarette between his lips, strangely familiar tattoos on his muscular forearms and chest…as he gets closer I’m filled with dread as I begin to realize who he is…but he isn’t slowing down.

The f*cking prick nearly runs into me.

As he takes off his helmet I’m instantly filled with horror and an undeniable twinge of excitement between my legs. It’s him. The man who took me last night, used me every which way, stretched me more than any man I’ve ever been with before…and now he’s ignoring me, acting like he’s never seen me before in his life.

I have a feeling it’s going to be a fun summer.

This Contemporary New Adult Stepbrother Romance Novel is the first book in the three book Hawthorne Brothers series. The ending is HFN. The book contains harsh language, sexual content, and adult situations that may offend some readers.

My Review

What I loved about this was the steamy and hot sex scenes between Cash and Maddie and how they fought the chemistry they had.  Also the other siblings all held their own within the joined family dynamic in the group settings.  It does make me want to read the other books in the series just to see them all find love and happiness even though their parents are a bit left of field.

Now although titled as a Step Brother romance, really they are all grown adults and I thought the story centred more on the fractured relationships they have with their parents.  I do understand that Maddie felt a sense of taboo as not wanting to jeopardise her mother’s happiness and Cash really is his own man and did not give a shit about anything apart from his brothers.

The differences in the personalities of the sisters and brothers and their connections within their own trio of family and where they stood as oldest, middle and younger child was really interesting to me.  Their placement in affection from their own parents and then as they entwine together and ultimately stick up for each other and support each other I found one of the best parts of this story.

I would have really enjoyed seeing more of the aftermath of the family when Cash and Maddie leave the house especially a conversation between the two parents to see how they ultimately felt would have maybe resolved a few more questions for me. I admit I really did not like Maddie’s mother as a character, her girls are screaming out for affection and stability after their father’s sudden death and she is just so flightly – I wanted to strangle her in some parts of the book.

She now had obligations as a Del Marco to fulfill which included being married off to a complete stranger. Protest as she might, Antonio was going to make damn sure she did as she was told.

He was going to make her bend. She was going to fight back.

The spark was lit. The fire had caught.

Who would burn?

**This is a standalone adult romance that has explicit sexual content.

My Review

This romance story has so much more than what I was expecting, I admit I kind of downloaded thinking I would get some down and dirty bad mobsters sex with the hot stepbrother.  What I received was an endearing background story of family, love & wrong doings that I am going to keep a secret as I do not want to ruin this for you.  You get it all in this romantic tale, if you love mob romance stories along with some great past hurts, strong stubborn men and mystery you will really enjoy reading this.  It was a perfect length, I did not feel rushed and felt content as I learnt all about Antonio and Emma and was happy with the ending.

We get varied points of view at parts of the story which I believe was really smart by the author, it helped me connect to both Antonio and Emma as a love interest,  there were other characters namely the family lawyer who knew family background history who I thought too provided great connections to link both Antonio and Emma and help them remember their pasts.  I admit I am a big pushover and softened toward Antonio once I found out what parts he had played in Emma’s life.

Antonio’s character although brutish at the start turned quickly into the stepbrother that Emma probably always wanted and needed in her life.

We also get the usual mob danger, backstabbing, tantrums and above all else old fashioned passion and humour.

I devoured this, did not want to put it down – it was a fantastic read.

Naked Choke

By Celia Loren

naked choke

Synopsis

My 18th birthday gift was moving in with two of the hottest, cockiest guys I’d ever met.

Austen and Logan Riggens, my new stepbrothers, my walking nightmares. They’re both older than me, they’re both MMA fighters, and to describe them in a few words…they’re charming, assertive, know-it-all, a**holes.

It’s like an unwritten rule in their house that they walk around without shirts on. Teasing me, mocking me, trying their best to make me squirm.

They don’t care that our parents are practically married, or that it’s totally unacceptable to steal a kiss from me as we pass in the hallways, leave the door open as they get out of the shower, or invite me into their bedrooms.

Inside the cage…inside our house…two brothers fighting over me.

But the more I play hard to get, the stronger their advances become. And the more they treat me like sh*t, the more I want them…

Full Length, No Cliff Hanger. 18+ Contains adult language and sexual content.

My Review

I was given a copy of this book and being my first MMA stepbrother romance novel I was not sure what to expect however I was not disappointed at all let me tell you.   Austen is confident and your typical older sibling whilst Logan has this inner turmoil going on and is quiet and reflective and more sensitive.  I don’t believe the boys were overtly rude or condescending to Cat they were just very self assured of themselves so perhaps that is part of being a MMA fighter and yes they both hurt her and broke her heart at moments in the story but I still secretly liked them.

The story flowed really well and you even learnt a bit about the terminology of MMA and I can honestly say I could have read a few more chapters at the end.  Whilst the ending was neatly wrapped up I still would have liked to have seen a bit more family discussion in relation to the dynamic between Cat, her mum and her step dad – he was a very focus driven man and I would have liked to have seen him push Cat a bit more.  There was a particular scene in the kitchen where their were tempers raised and Cat’s mum reacted appropriately considering her past with Cat’s dad but I thought it could have gone further and we could have had a bit more drama. I did not like her mum as a character, she was a very weak and needy women to me, she definitely played her daughter to her own tune and I was glad Cat finally came out of her bubble – she definitely in my eyes shone at the end of this story and made the right decision.

Logan and Austen were brothers but complete opposites in lifes expectations and outlooks all  except for their interest in their new step sister to be, I did like how the boys were three and two years respectively older than Cat as their maturity was evident on the pages.  They both played a part in shaping Cat and her journey to discovering what her life course would take and she also played an important role in those two boys making some hard decisions within their own family structure as well.  I would have loved a scene between Logan and his dad at the fighting tournament – some parts of those sections I was angry and hurt for Logan.

A great story of young love, life decisions and standing up for what and who you believe in.

Fallen Crest High (Fallen Crest #1)

By Tijan

Synopsis

Mason and Logan Kade are two brothers who did their own thing. They were rich and expected to attend her school, Fallen Crest Academy. They chose public school and now Samantha has to live with them. The problem is that she doesn’t care at all: about them, about her friends, about her cheating boyfriend, or even about her parent’s divorce. But maybe that’s a good thing. Maybe change is a good thing.

Review

Fallen Crest High is fantastic, the way Mason and Logan entwine Samantha slowly into their lives is really entertaining and fast paced.  The personality of Samantha I find really interesting especially the way she controls her life by running when everything seems to be falling apart.  It is amazing as young adults how you find something within your life to hang onto and allow it to create that buffer when you feel so many other parts are so crazy.  The personalities of these three main characters and how they eventually combine to be a strong force is riveting as you turn each page.  Samantha’s relationships with her mother and step father I find fascinating as is her place amongst her peers at high school especially her boyfriend and admirers.

I actually really love the connection between Logan and Sam with his humour and protective nature of Sam being his step sister – Logan is my favourite of the brothers.

This was the first what I would say Step Brother / Step Sister romance novel I read before it all became fashionable in late 2014/2015 to write this type of romance.

If you have not read this then I can guarantee once you read this book you will be picking up the rest and they will be a “will read again” series for you as it is for me.

This series is currently four books with book five being released sometime in 2015 (per author website).

Forbidden love, it has a way of changing you. The secrets. The lies. The guilt. You want something so much you no longer care about the world around you. The passion takes away the pain. I’ve felt it. I’ve lived it. I didn’t need it, but it chose me.

I met him before I knew. I loved him before I knew.

I didn’t know that he was my stepbrother. I knew I had stepbrothers, but I didn’t know he was one of them. Now I know, I have to walk away. My mom, she deserves this happiness so much more than I do. If she ever knew…it would destroy her.

You have to understand why.

I saw my father die right in front of my tiny, eight year old eyes. He took my sister with him. All that’s left is my mother and I. She’s found her happy place, the only place she’s had since our worlds were destroyed.

So you see, I can’t have him.

I can’t want him.

But there’s this problem with passion, and love, and destiny.

It doesn’t give you a damned choice.

Review

It has taken me a day to think about this book before writing this review as I have simply loved all my Bella Jewel novels from start to finish.

To be honest it took me a while to warm up to this story but then wow it grabbed me by my heart and I loved it.  I have put this down to the fact that some of the characters annoyed me somewhat but then as they matured the writing reflected this.  I did not enjoy the backwards and forwards in the story to find out how they met.  So just a warning you need to stick with it as the emotion and the supporting characters do find their way and really do give this story depth.

The Step-Father Jack I really loved him in the second half of the book, I did not really feel that he and Aria’s mum had a serious relationship at the beginning of the book and also weird they did not move in with each other for ages and lived basically separate lives in separate houses even when Aria had been living in a unit at college.  Her mum let her go out and have a relatively carefree existence to not move in and share a home with her serious boyfriend was strange – well to me anyway – also her mum was gorgeous and so loving to her daughter.

Now the best characters were the three brothers and their inner circle and the way they embraced the thought of having a sister was really beautiful.  The adventures they had as siblings and the emotional and heart wrenching encounters they experienced had me on the edge of my seat.  The way they came to Aria’s rescue after one particularly traumatic encounter actually brought tears to my eyes with the boys caring for their step-sister.

Also Brody and Melanie, OMG did they come into their own, I will be reading their story and glad they will be having one.

So yes there are so many good things about the book – you will enjoy the read- I did.

StepSister Devotion Part Four

By Eve Cates

stepsister4

Part Four and the final of this series, Eve Cates delivers on romance, passion, family, forgiveness, resolutions and lifetime devotion.

StepSister Abi and StepBrother Seb have hurdles to overcome but all storylines are neatly tied up and there are some characters that I did not like which in this part had me forgiving them by the end of the book – interesting.

I am keeping this review short and sweet as there is so much happening in this final part that I do not want to ruin it for anyone.

The only thing I will say is that I did find this final part a bit rushed for me and I do understand with everything that needed to be resolved and perhaps I was not really ready to leave Seb and Abi just yet? One other thing and this is just my opinion but I think these four parts would have made a knock your socks off book – I probably would have locked myself away for two days or called in sick at work as it flowed really well from book one all the way through to book four and there was so much suspense and the way we saw their lives from young children to adults was fantastic.

Thanks for a great story Eve Cates – well done !!

StepSister Devotion Part Three

By Eve Cates

stepsister3

Synopsis

A forbidden Romance told from the male point of view.

I asked her to make a choice and deep down, I knew what it would be. Our lives didn’t go together, and they still don’t. She’s the head of a giant corporation and I’m a musician who spends months at a time on the road. We exist in different worlds and I can accept that because I’m not the boy I once was, I’m not the broken soul I once was either.
But the world is forever changing, and our professional worlds are merging. Suddenly, we’re keeping similar company. Suddenly, we’re back in each other’s orbit. Things have changed. I have changed. Now, I’m a man who knows what he wants. Now, I’m a man who won’t be playing any games. Now, I’m a man who’ll take what’s mine, and I won’t apologise–not to a single soul.
This is happening. I don’t care anymore. Abigail belongs with me–out in the open, in secret…up against the dressing room door…she belongs with me.
I’m taking what’s mine, and I won’t be sharing.

My Review

StepSister Devotion has now earned my full 5 Hearts – Book Three is so off the charts amazing – I love Seb and Abi – they are magic.

I read this in a day, I could not put it down, I simply needed to know what happened to the telephone message, what was in the letter, what was the secret, will Cynthia the evil witch get her just deserts – Eve Cates has twisted a fantastic tale.

A quarter of the way through I kind of had an idea but did not want to hope too much, I had fingers crossed and wishing with all my heart, Seb will not walk away this time.  I absolutely love how he is becoming a man in this book, he is sure of himself, he has determination, no self-doubt, he is strong, he is alpha and he is standing up for what he wants.   Goddam the man is hot with a capital H, man I want to pick up this book and read part three again – Seb is sex on a stick – are you getting my point – Seb is the man – Ok I need to stop take a deep breath!

I must say also that Abi came into her own this book as well, I love her now, I did not in book one and two that much but now these two are like a piece of a puzzle that Eve is putting back together, she took her time and did it the right way.

So where is book four? Like now Eve Cates – I really want a HEA in book four – I hope you have given Seb the chance to experience it all and I mean EVERYTHING with Abi – he has to be there to support her – her husband has not and does not deserve to – I will not be a happy camper if it is taken away from him.
