Synopsis

My name is Abigail Summers, and I’m addicted to sex. Yes, you read right. I’m a woman that craves… no, needs to have a man take my body on a daily basis. If I don’t have sex at least once a day, my body shakes from withdrawals, my stomach cramps with unbearable pain, my sexually hazed mind goes haywire, and I become extremely irritable and a major bitch. This isn’t a lifestyle I’ve chosen for myself. It’s a struggle I deal with every single day.

I don’t do relationships, because what man wants to be stuck knowing his girl may be out f*cking some random guy if he’s not available? You may think this is something that I can control, but I say screw you; you’ve never been in my shoes before.

The cravings may be something I can’t control, but I’ve learned to embrace them. I’ve tried the sexual addiction support groups. I’ve tried curbing my appetites. I’ve been shunned, criticized, ridiculed, and called every nasty name under the sun. Well, I say f*ck all you judgmental assholes. I’ll have sex with who I want, when I want, where I want. Embarrassment? That’s a thing of the past. This is my life now, and those that don’t like it can go straight to hell.

But then he came along and screwed everything up. Colt Maverick. For once in my life, I want more, crave more from one guy. A guy that’s sweet and doesn’t match my hard interior. A guy that looks at me like he wants to eat me alive and claim me as his own. A guy that will most definitely not be okay with my addiction. A guy that I want over and over again, not because my body demands it, but because I demand it.

I now have a new addiction. But will he be enough to satisfy my uncontrollable desires?

Review

Always Wanting is my second book by this author and again she has this ability to suck me in within the first few chapters.  I cannot explain how this author can make me form such intense emotional connections to her leading ladies.  I cannot believe I have read a book about a stalker and a sex addict and loved them both, the author has a way of not defining the characters but enabling them to evolve and you want them to find their happiness.

Colt Maverick, so glad he got his story as I loved him in Endless Obsession and I was happy to get to also read about Poppy and Asher and hear a little of how they have progressed.

Abigail was such an interesting character and her affliction and emotional trauma had me glued to the pages and in awe of her strength and determination.  Some of the scenes in this book are heart breaking and had me feeling such sadness for her pain and pure desperation.

One of the best parts of this story was her group of three friends and can I say that I fell in love with Nathan and his loyalty and love for Abigail.  Just putting it out there that I would love a story for Nathan because he deserves it.

Always Wanting ended perfectly for me and I was so happy that Abigail although not healed is repaired and given a chance at love and happiness.

Love the Cover, was perfect for Colt.

Quote: I still get the sense that she’s waiting for the other shoe to drop between us.  I’m not going to let it happen.  I’ll superglue those fuckers to our feet if I have to.

Synopsis

Sometimes starting over is the only choice.

Broken-hearted and looking for revenge, Phoebe Reede heads back to the US to take up a new challenge. Only, when she discovers who her teammate and rival is, the challenge might prove too great.

While she knew life away from home wouldn’t be easy, she never expected to be faced with an unpleasant surprise from her ex-boyfriend, or to be as drawn to him as ever. She needs to remain professional and push aside her feelings for him, but will she let someone else steal her heart away instead?

What will it take to prove she’s not afraid to take the risk?

Review

PHOBIC continues on from the cliffhanger in PHASE, where Beau broke up with Phoebe before she could surprise him with the news that she was moving over to the US to race and to be with him.  She decides to go over anyway, determined to race for the next fourteen months and do her best to move on from Beau.

I loved Beau in the first book, but I was so angry with him in this book and I had to keep reminding myself that he really was a nice guy who was just doing shitty things.  I had a fair idea about why he broke up with Phoebe, but even knowing that, it was still hard listening to all the cruel and hurtful things he would say to⎯and about⎯her.  I get it, he wanted to hurt her the way she had hurt him, but the way he lashed out at her and toyed with her emotions was terrible and my heart was breaking for her before I even hit the 5% mark.

Phoebe was very loud and in-your-face in the first book, and I noticed that her personality had toned down considerably in this book.  Heartbreak made her a little softer in some ways, and I found I liked it.  Don’t get me wrong, she was still tough when she needed to be.  However, I was surprised that she didn’t go ape-shit when she and Beau discovered the truth about their breakup.  But maybe that’s just me; I’d built up that scene so much in my head that nothing short of hell on earth would have satisfied me.

“I told you once that love can destroy you if you let it, and it has, Beau.  It’s broken me.”

PHOBIC is told in only Phoebe’s POV and it cannot be read as a stand-alone; you have to read PHASE first.  Michelle Irwin is one of those few authors that, when starting one of her books, I have to prepare for it.  I have to make sure that my housework and blogging responsibilities are up-to-date because I know that once I start, I won’t be stopping.  I only put this book down when I absolutely had to, and I ended up reading it in one day.  Be prepared for tears and for a cliffhanger that comes out of nowhere; a cliffhanger that has me both desperate and terrified for BEASTLY, the next book in the series.

* Note:  This book includes scenes of sexual harassment and sexual assault, which may be triggers for some people.

Synopsis

Get ready to ride . . .

Tyra Masters has had enough drama to last a lifetime. Now, she’s back on track and looking forward to her new, quiet life. Until she meets the man of her dreams. The tattooed, muscled biker plies her with tequila-and the best sex of her life. She knows it isn’t the tequila and hot sex talking. He’s the kind of man she’s always wanted. Unfortunately, he’s also her new boss . . .

Kane “Tack” Allen has a rule. He doesn’t employ someone he’s slept with. So when he learns he spent last night in bed with his new office manager, he quickly fires Tyra. Yet when Tyra stands up to him and fights for her job, Tack is intrigued. He tells her she can keep her job on one condition: no more sex. Ever. But as things heat up between them, Tack finds that he’ll be the one breaking all the rules…

Review

Motorcycle Man was my most favourite of this entire series which just seemed to get better with each book.  The characters Hawk, Brock and Mitch make a stunning and incredible force to be reckoned with when Tack needs their help.  Tyra of all the women in this series to me has the greatest sacrifice and personal trauma for the love of Tack.  You knew going in it was going to take a special woman for Tack and she out of all the women was my absolute favourite.

The way Tyra loves Tack’s kids especially Tabitha and when she goes all Momma Bear angry on her boyfriend was one of my favourite parts.  This section also cemented Tack and his extreme love for this woman when fallout happens.

Tack colours Tyra’s world.  Throughout this book Tack shows this woman how to live by the words of Chaos.  Motorcycle Man takes you on a fast ride, plenty of characters return from the Dream Man books and we are given light moments inbetween the heavy MC club darkness.

I had tears in my eyes for Tyra – she is a fighter and that is why she is with Tack – they are perfect together.

There is a spin off series to the Motorcycle Man –  Tabitha, Rush and Hop have a story to tell and I for one are going on that ride.

Synopsis

“Go to hell.”
“I’m already there, babe.”

Two years after his fiancée was shot and killed by crossfire during a skirmish involving his MC, Dominick Fiarelli has sworn off love. Women are just a means to an end – nothing more, nothing less. He planned on keeping it that way forever.

But then Kara showed up.

“He’s trying to take everything from me.”
“Over my dead body.”

Kara Vance just wants to raise her daughter in peace. But then her abusive ex-husband shows up at the diner where she works, spewing threats and laying his hands on her. It’s a flashback to the life she’s been trying desperately to flee. Just when she thinks the scumbag is going to beat her senseless, a man she’s never seen before swoops in to the rescue.

That’s when everything changed.

It started with a bang.

Dom hears a violent commotion from the back of the diner and goes to investigate. When he sees a slimy bastard in an expensive suit about to hit a defenseless waitress, he stops him in his tracks. The man utters a threat before leaving, but Dom couldn’t care less. He’s locked in on the girl. The fire between them builds and he knows they’re venturing into dangerous territory.

Kara feels it, too, but her life is fraught with danger. The last thing she needs is this dark, mysterious man adding more drama to the mess. She tries to push him away, but he sees right through her. Before she knows it, they’re kissing, holding, biting… and that’s just the beginning.

But her ex isn’t done with just yet. If Kara isn’t careful, the life she’s built may be gone in a flash.

“Screw the pursuit of happiness,” Dom told her. “The only thing I want is YOU.”

PURSUIT is a full-length, standalone romance novel with steamy hot sex, strong language, a happily every after ending, and NO CLIFFHANGERS. Contains dark and disturbing themes, and over-the-top sexiness that may be uncomfortable for some readers.

Perfect for fans of Sam Crescent, Jenika Snow, L Wilder, Sabrina Paige, Lauren Landish, Vanessa Waltz, Jordan Marie, and Nicole Snow.

Review

Firstly, love the cover of this book.

What immediately drew me into this story was Kara and her fierce love for her daughter Emma who whilst young in age was an extremely old soul, interesting how children pick up on things. Their relationship I loved reading about and how Dom integrates himself into that family dynamic. Their sex scenes were intense and off the charts hot – I was not disappointed.

This flowed well most of the time and did have odd moments. I found the ending scenes with Kara, her husband and Dom strange in that I mean you knew something major was going to happen but I grappled with Dom finding himself alone in that situation and thus being in danger. This story basically happens over a few weeks and is very intense but in no way really I would call it a total MC story as it takes place more in Kara’s world than Dom’s. Dom’s MC world really felt added in at parts and the two worlds did not mesh together well into the story. I would have connected more if Kara had perhaps had a bit of interaction with the MC club before they all race in to rescue her.

The MC basically comes into the story right at the suspenseful conclusion and then in the epilogue where it all gets tied up nicely. I must say I was pleasantly surprised that Kara gets to finish her dream of study and I thought that was really significant considering what her husband made her do when she was so young.

I would have loved the MC to have played more of a part with perhaps a few more escalated events to the thrilling conclusion to help the connection between the two worlds.

This is definitely a standalone with steamy sex scenes and a HEA.

Synopsis

Love is just around the corner . . .

Sweet, shy Mara Hanover is in love with her neighbor. For four years, she has secretly watched her dream man from afar. Handsome police detective Mitch Lawson is way out of her league. She’s a girl from the wrong side of the tracks, and there’s no way a guy like Mitch would want anything to do with her. But when Mara has a leaky faucet that she can’t fix, it’s Mitch who comes to her rescue.

Mitch has been eyeing his beautiful neighbor for a long time. He jumps at the chance to help her, and soon their formerly platonic relationship gets very hot and heavy. But when Mara gets a disturbing phone call from her cousin’s kids, she gets pulled back into the life she’s tried so hard to leave behind. Can the hot law man convince Mara to let go of her past-and build a future with him?

Review

Favourite moment – Billy tapping his heart and then pointing at Detective Mitch Lawson – tingles and tears.

Law Man is book 3 of the Dream Man Series, although not linked to each other I recommend you start at Mystery Man (#1), you will not be disappointed as characters appear in Wild Man (#2) and then Law Man (#3).

We first met Mitch in Mystery Man and yes I felt so sorry for him when Gwen picked Hawk but knew it was the right decision and then was definitely proven with Mara. Law Man makes me understand that Gwen was never the woman for Detective Mitch Lawson – Mara to me was the perfect woman – Mitch is a Law Man – to protect and my god the way he does it makes me melt, swoon and simply tear up.

Mara became my hero making her BBQ chicken pizza and walking across that breezeway, considering she is so shy she took my breath away. I loved her inner rating system and it made sense when you consider how she was brought up. Mara’s sever determination to give herself a better life and her strength of character when it comes to her two little cousins – pure perfection.

An outstanding moment for me also was Billy’s breakdown and how Mitch makes him realise he can take a breath and live a Dream life as a kid – pure magic.

We are given two beautiful children in Billy and Billie and their love for their Aunty Mara and topping it all off with Billie with her Teflon coating just makes your heart melt as well as Billy’s ultimate devotion to protecting his little sister.

We get operation “Take out the Trash” which was perfect along with “My Mitch” and “Break” – I loved Detective Mitch in Mystery Man and his story is my favourite so far of the three Dream Man series books.

Lovely ending to this story, we see how Mitch, Mara, Billy and Billie all end up – HEA guaranteed

Quote: “If I’m your Mitch, you’re my Mara”

Synopsis

Can a dream really become a reality?

Georgia Armstrong is on the hunt—on the hunt for a man. It’s not what you think, though. She’s not looking for love, friendship or companionship. Georgia wants a baby, and she’s on the hunt for a sperm donor. Except her plan is to have the sperm donated the good old-fashioned way. What could possibly go wrong?

Henry Marsh knows what he wants, and a wife and family are not it. He doesn’t know where the little blonde bombshell came from, and he doesn’t know what she was thinking when she came up with her plan. And he especially doesn’t know why he agreed to help her.

Business quickly turns into pleasure and the lines are blurred as Henry and Georgia begin to break all the rules.

How far will Georgia go to become a mother, and what will it cost her? And has Henry finally put his member some place he shouldn’t?

Review

WHATEVER IT TAKES is the story of one woman willing to do whatever it takes to have a baby.  Georgia isn’t getting any younger and she knows her time is running out if she wants to have a baby.  She can’t afford to go through IVF, so that leaves her with the only option of getting pregnant the old-fashioned way.  But she’s a realist who knows that by the time she finds a man who she could settle down with, it might be too late.  So she’s come up with a plan that even she thinks is crazy: find a man willing to knock her up, who will then walk away when it’s done.  Henry ends up being that man.  He has no desire for marriage or children, but he’s happy to try and make her dream come true.

Despite her crazy plan, I quite liked Georgia.  She had a dream and she chased it with everything she had, because she was determined to make it come true.  I can respect that.  I liked Henry, that he was very upfront about what he did and didn’t want out of life.  However, I didn’t like that after he acknowledged his feelings for Georgia, he expected her to give up her dream of having a baby to be with him, but not once did he consider doing the same for her and I was so happy when Georgia stood up to him about it.  Luckily for Henry, he redeems himself in a huge way.

WHATEVER IT TAKES is told in dual POVs and while it’s part of a series, it can be read as a stand-alone.  I did find it hard to believe that Henry⎯a man in his thirties⎯didn’t know how a woman’s cycle worked, or that Georgia believed her ability to fall pregnant was gone after suffering a setback.  Their lack of knowledge in regards to human reproduction was a little concerning.  The story itself moves at a fairly quick pace and is overall a fun and lighthearted read that comes with a lovely HEA.

* Note:  This story includes scenes about the joys of pregnancy, as well as its dangers and risks, which may be triggers for some readers.

Synopsis

She’s about to walk on the wild side . . .

While filling the display case in her bakery, the bell over the door sounds and Tessa O’Hara looks up to see the man of her dreams. Within thirty seconds he asks her out for a beer. But after four months of dating, she discovers he’s an undercover DEA agent-and he’s investigating her possible role in her ex-husband’s drug business. For Tess, this means their relationship is over.

Brock disagrees. He’s committed to his anti-drug mission, but he’s fallen in love with the beautiful woman who’s as sweet as her cupcakes-and he’ll do anything to win her back. Standing between Tess and Brock are their own exes, one of them a drug lord who’s determined to get what he wants. Now as danger threatens, can Brock break the rules he’s lived by and let loose his wild side to protect the woman he loves?

Review

Wild Man Brock we first meet in Mystery Man (Dream Man #1) as the undercover DEA who protects Gwen when she is kidnapped. I really liked Brock’s character in Book 1 so I was really happy to read his story.

Tessa is the soft and fluffy just like her sweet creations  to Brock’s wild and rough personality and they so fit each other.  I enjoyed the banter between them, the difficulties they faced from not only Brock and his family but Tessa’s past and I must say she had some serious heartbreak.

Brock’s two boys were my favourite characters as was my hero for them being their step dad Dade – what an amazing man he was in the end.

I did not like her friend Martha at all, even when she thawed to Brock but loved how we get to see the other girls particularly Gwen and Elvira.

This series is just getting better with so many characters from book 1 returning to book 2 and I see the hot detective Mitch is in Book 3 so bring it on – love these Alpha men.

This story flowed well, loved the family element this had considering Tessa’s dream to have children and the time jumping through their relationship was perfect.

Synopsis

Dominic

I was the boy who would never be king. The monster who could never be loved.

Gia was just a job. Just another girl caught in a world of monsters.

It didn’t matter that I liked the look of her.
I didn’t care that she cringed when she saw my soul.
I liked it.
I liked her fear.
And I wanted her.

Monsters didn’t get to live happily ever after, though. I knew one day I’d have to go back. Because time neither forgave nor forgot.

And neither did I.

Old debts needed to be settled. Enemies punished. It was past time I returned to the family business. I’d been gone far too long.

Gia

All my life, I believed in fairy tales. Not the Disney kind. Never those. I always knew life was darker than that.

I was the daughter of a foot soldier. The sister of a snitch. A nobody.

Monsters had been part of my life for as long as I could remember, but none as dark as Dominic Benedetti. None as cruel. None as broken.

I had no illusions about what he was. I had no desire to save his soul. And I couldn’t care about his bleeding heart.

But love isn’t always beautiful. It could be a twisted, ugly bitch.

I’d always known this was the kind I’d find. The only kind that could touch me.

Because some of us, we belonged in the dark.
And Dominic and I belonged in the dark.

Author’s Note: Dominic is a steamy standalone romance. He is the ultimate Anti-Hero, so be prepared for a crazy, rough ride. To fully understand Dominic’s actions, I recommend reading the first book in the Benedetti Brothers duet, Salvatore.

This book is intended for mature readers. No cliffhanger and no cheating.

Review

Love the cover, love the drama, love the sex and love the Mafia – Dominic is pure danger and I devoured him.

Firstly, the timeline between Salvatore (Book 1) and Dominic (Book 2) was perfect in my eyes and I appreciated the dual perspectives of Gia and Dominic.  I read Dominic in a day, I could not put down but to fully appreciate his story you need to read Salvatore (Book 1) first.

Dominic’s personality and emotional baggage is still so strong and as are so many returning characters who play their part in manipulating his current actions and mood.

The way the author threw us head first into the situation between Dominic and Gia and then allowed us to go back to know how they got to the cabin was very easy to follow.  Gia’s torment, heartache and fear gripped you from the first few pages – I was hooked and petrified.

It only took me a couple of chapters to get my head back into the whole wonderful Mob world that Natasha Knight involves us in.  We are given romance, heat and passion but a fantastic Mob mystery to try and follow who is wanting to take over the kingdom.

I was happy that we also get to see Salvatore and Lucia again and I did love how Effie played her part as that storyline was one of my favourites from Salvatore.

The connection between the two main characters of Dominic and Gia has a slow and steady build up – it was perfect for me.

Synopsis

“You’re gorgeous. Even better looking than the day I fell in love with you.”

The words are a constant reminder of what true love is. Olivia Dawson’s alarm goes off at the same time every day and she disappears into her room to hear Duncan’s voice, see his face, miss him even more for being untouchable. Olivia loves with her entire heart, and her love for Duncan is unmatched, but there’s something about her new roommate she just can’t seem to ignore—no matter how hard she tries.

“I miss you so much.”
“Can’t be more than I miss you.”

The words are a constant reminder of how unavailable Olivia is, and Bryson Daniels isn’t one for competition off the baseball field, but since the moment he knocked on the door to his new apartment and his roommate “Ollie” wasn’t who he expected, he can’t help but consider bending a few of his rules—even if it means heeding to Olivia’s.

“I love you, sweet cheeks. Chat with you later?”

Bryson hears the conversations through the paper thin walls, but there’s a pain inside Olivia he can’t seem to walk away from. He vows to be there for her when the voice on the other side of the computer inevitably breaks her heart, but will he ever be able to compete with someone who’s more than a memory?

Review

Before I get started, I think I need to point out that MORE THAN A MEMORY is set in college, with Bryson and Olivia aged twenty and nineteen respectively.  The synopsis makes no mention of the college setting, nor does the man on the cover look like he’s twenty years old.  Don’t get me wrong, he looks hot and I would totally kick him out of bed only so that I could fuck him on the floor, but he looks too old to represent a twenty year old college student who’s not legally allowed to consume alcohol.  Moving on, like I said the story is set in college and if I knew that at the time, I may not have considered reading it.  College romances can be hard for me to connect with, especially when there’s too much drama and/or too much pushing and pulling between characters.  There was a bit of that here, but thankfully not as much as I’ve read in other college romances.

I can’t say a lot about Olivia other than she’s a recluse suffering from severe depression.  She hasn’t stepped outside her apartment in months and the only physical interaction she’s had is with her mother when she comes to visit.  Normally a character like Olivia would frustrate me to tears with her huge mood swings, but not once was I frustrated with her.  I put that down to reminding myself that she had depression, but I think it’s also because Marie James did such a good job of writing her that you can’t help but feel sad for her every time she suffers a setback.

Now Bryson on the other hand did frustrate me several times.  I did like him, and I loved that he helped bring Olivia out of hiding, but sometimes he flat out treated her terribly.  He tells himself he wants to help her and that he needs to be patient with her, but when she didn’t adjust as quickly as he’d like, or when she’d have a setback, he’d get angry and mean and would pull away from her.  His night with Simone was done deliberately in front of her to humiliate and punish her, all because he wanted her but couldn’t have her.  Quite honestly, I thought his mood swings were bigger than Olivia’s, but then I did have to remind myself that he was only twenty and clearly not equiped to handle her very well.

MORE THAN A MEMORY is told in dual POVs and is currently a stand-alone.  I say currently because the story is left open for two of Bryson’s teammates to get their own story.  I did enjoy the story and it certainly brought out some strong emotions; I was crying so much at one scene that I had to stop and take a break.  It does come with a HEA, but I was left wondering one thing: Did Bryson go pro?

Synopsis

When it comes to love, they already know the rules…by heart.

Thirty-two and finally setting up her veterinary practice in the town she once called home, Emma Burnett is on her own and loving it. Independent and driven, she’s not letting any man get in the way of her dreams. Not again.

That’s fine with Luke McCormack. Divorced and hardly lacking in female company when he needs it, he’s devoted to the only faithful companion in his life—his police dog. Still, there’s something about Emma he can’t shake.

When a series of local break-ins leaves Emma vulnerable, she seeks help from the first man to spark her desire in years. And now they’re giving each other something they thought they’d lost forever…hope.

Review

Both Emma and Luke haven’t had successful relationships, so neither of them is looking for a partner when they meet for the first time.  It’s not long until Luke is suggesting a friends-with-benefits arrangement.  Their dogs get on really well together, so why can’t they?

I found it extremely difficult to like Emma, who seems to spend most of the book thinking about Vaughn⎯her dangerous ex-boyfriend⎯and then comparing him to Luke, trying to find reasons to keep him at arms length.  She thinks about Vaughn several times just in the first 25% of the story, before we finally hear exactly what he did to her at the 54% mark.  Given that Vaughn was mentioned so many times, I predicted that he would make an appearance at some point, even though it wouldn’t fit with the story.  When Luke comes in to save the day, Emma gets upset because she wanted to save herself…so she dumps him.  Apart from her love of animals, I can’t think of anything else I liked about her.  To be honest, I can’t say a lot about Luke because I didn’t find him memorable.  Unfortunately, my dislike of Emma overshadowed his character.

HOPE FLAMES is told in dual POVs, but sometimes the POV would change in the middle of a chapter without any notice, so I’d suddenly find myself confused before I realised the POV had changed.  There is no epilogue, and the HEA comes in the form of a two-page conflict resolution, which was a let down.  When I started reading HOPE FLAMES, I was really into it, but at some point the story slowed down and really started to drag.  For a book that stated out so well, I was left so disappointed by the end that I don’t think I’ll continue on with the series.
