Hurricane (Heaven Hill Generations #1)

By Laramie Briscoe

Synopsis

We finally get our happily ever after…..

Remington “Remy” Sawyer

For most of my life I’ve been the person who lived with the hand he was dealt. Not much in my life have I had a say in. Birthed by parents I don’t talk to, I was raised by the only person who ever cared for me – my brother, Cash. Under his guidance, I’ve become the person I am today.

Productive member of society, and patched brother in the Heaven Hill MC.

I don’t want for anything, other than Tatum Walker.

We had a shot, and we both screwed it up……massively.

Tatum “Tate” Walker

Being the daughter of the President of the Heaven Hill MC is a burden, but one I’ll face every day with pride. It’s hard for me to know what people like me for. Is it my personality, my looks, or are they trying to get close to the Club? There’s one person I’ve never doubted.

Remington Sawyer.

A year ago we had one night of almost passion – that ended with me walking away in tears – and him walking away in anger.

Some time away from each other has given us perspective. Now, instead of the storm of chaos that was our one attempt at a relationship, we’re both ready for calm.

And nothing, they say, is as calm – as the eye of a Hurricane.

Review

I have not read any Heaven Hill books but I could easily follow all the characters introduced and did not get confused.  Although perhaps I would have connected easier if I had?

I admit I liked Remy as a character more than Tate, he was definitely more mature however Tate slowly grew on me by the end.

This is a romance around two young people who after a misunderstanding reconnect and move forward together for a second chance at having a relationship.  The moments at the cabin were my favourite and they really do talk to each other and admit mistakes.

It was at times a bit too slow for me and I was waiting for some action which we did get from Remy’s parents.  The build-up of waiting for them to finally admit their enduring love for each other was satisfying at the end.

I really loved how all the adults supported these two young characters.  There is not much MC drama in this and it purely centers around these two young people.

This had a very different feel from other books by the author I have read.

Hurricane is an easy read without any unnecessary drama and is a sweet romance.

The Longing (Dogs of Fire: Wolfpack #2)

By Piper Davenport

Synopsis

She wants only him…
For as long as she can remember, Poppy has loved only one man. Devon Wallace has been her knight in shining leather ever since he rescued her from a date gone wrong. She can’t envision a future without him, but she’s convinced he still thinks of her as the pesky twelve-year-old who used to follow him around.

He can have anyone but her…
Devon “Sparky” Wallace has spent the better part of a decade trying to keep his hands off his uncle’s step-daughter, Poppy, and living by the code of the brotherhood. He’s not about to break the rules, no matter how much he fantasizes about the sexiest woman on the planet.

But when her connection to him puts her life in jeopardy, he must figure out a way to save her without breaking the club’s code, even if that means losing her forever.

Review

Firstly, love the cover of The Longing, I can imagine this being Devon!

The Longing is the romance story of Poppy and Devon and it is a fast paced sexy and humorous journey.  I admit that upon finishing this I picked up and re-read Hatch and Masie’s love story where we first met Poppy as a strong-willed young twelve-year-old.

Again I am drawn to the incredible bond between Hatch (Stand In Dad) and Poppy, it is full of strength and love.  When she first met Hatch as a twelve-year-old to now being a young adult, it is simply beautiful to read.

Another favourite component was Poppy and Grace, still friends all these years and I would love for Grace to find her MC boyfriend.

During Poppy and Devon’s emerging love story is a dramatic turn of events for the MC club and Poppy is drawn into the danger.  This component of the story definitely kept me captivated and turning the pages.  The flow of the story is perfect and I simply loved the epilogue.

Quote:  “Unless it’s bad”, she countered. “Unless what’s bad?” “Sex”, she said, and licked her lips. “If you suck in bed, I’m out”

Cross (Devils Nightmare MC)

By Lena Bourne

Synopsis

Cross

I’m the guy whose name brings fear into the hearts of even the hardest men. They call me Cross, because I’ve killed enough men to fill a cemetery, and I never saw any problem with that. Until a woman, I hardly remember brought my eleven-year-old daughter that I didn’t know existed, to my doorstep and left her for me to take care of.

At first, my daughter was a complication I didn’t need, but now I’ll do everything I can to raise her right. I’ll even stay away from her hot-as-sin guidance counselor Roxanne, who makes me feel like I’m twenty again, and not pushing forty. Which isn’t to say I wouldn’t show her what a real man can do with a woman like her.

Roxie

My father was the president of an outlaw MC, and until I turned twenty-one a world of bikers, mayhem and crime was all I knew. Then a rival gang destroyed it all, killed my family and everyone I held dear, and made me the property of a brutal, ruthless man. I ran away, got an education, and haven’t looked back.

Now I’m the guidance counselor at a small town junior high school, my old life so far behind me it might as well be someone else’s past, and I was happy to leave it there. But then I met Cross, the bad boy biker father of one of my wayward students. He makes me yearn for the life I lost, crave all the excitement that used to be my everyday. Makes me want to be a bad girl again, if only for one night.

But I won’t go down that road again. It doesn’t lead anywhere good.

Cross: Devil’s Nightmare MC is biker romance novel, which contains steamy sex scenes and deals with disturbing themes that may be uncomfortable for some readers. Intended for 18+ audiences.

Review

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Cross and it was my first book by this author. Beginning with a traumatic event for Roxie and entwining to current day with suspense.

It was fantastic to follow as all the pieces of the puzzle started to form.  Paced perfectly and kept me entertained and wanting to turn those pages and not leave the characters.

Their romance has a slow build up at the start as Roxie really fought the pull of returning to what she grew up in.  Cross was definitely the alpha male protector for her.  Roxie has a great inner strength and her trauma as a young girl was intense.

The relationship with Cross and his daughter was an interesting inclusion.  I thought the whole Motorcycle group of characters around Cross provided great support to the story.

My favourite component was Roxie’s family history. I loved how Cross stepped up with his Motorcycle group and repaired her life.

Finally, it has a great balance of romance and action that will keep you entertained until the last chapter.

Vigor

By J C Valentine

Synopsis

USA Today and International bestselling author J.C. Valentine is back with the latest in her electrifying, dangerous, and provocative world of the Spartan Riders MC…

After escaping an abusive marriage, Spartan Riders bartender Ginger “Red” Mercury is determined to live life on her own terms. When the club’s VP declares her untouchable and stakes his own claim on her, she finds herself ready to wage war.

A year after inoculating the threat from notorious cartel leader Ricky Cruiz, Garrick “Repo” Stone, the last-standing original member of the Spartan Riders MC, has his focus on something else: monogamy. Having decided to settle down and take an ol’ lady, he has his sights set on Red…and he has his work cut out for him if he hopes to win her.

When a new threat makes itself known, threatening everything the brothers stand for and care about, they’re left scrambling to find out who’s behind it before it’s too late. With the high-stakes game of war looming over them, will Red be able to open her heart to love before outside forces pull her and Repo apart?

Review

Vigor is my first book by this author.  I could easily follow the characters and basic storyline.  I happily read this in a day as it was easy to follow.  However, in saying that I did feel the overall story could have had a bit more emotional depth for the main two characters as at times they left me frustrated.  Their relationship took a back seat during the story as we followed the drama around the MC.  I did sit back at one point and ask where are Repo and Ginger?  When they returned it took awhile for me to believe they would have a future.

Their stubbornness matched as a couple with Repo and Ginger.  At the beginning, their connection was hard to emotionally connect to. They were both holding so much back and it felt very hot and cold.

One section in the hospital if expanded would have been brilliant and solidified their underlying emotional attachment and opening up to each other.  It would have helped to have had a few scenes between these two main characters in those first few days in the hospital.  I really wanted Ginger to open up to Repo and to acknowledge her past trauma that is still affecting her.  I  then wanted Repo to be that older man that she ultimately needed and provide her stability and security.  The age difference for me worked well between these two and provided some great moments.

I do admit I was unhappy with the ending as it was so abrupt after such an emotional and dangerous time for both Gabby and Ginger.   I wanted to see the recognition between Ginger and Repo in a more emotional and in-depth manner than just getting on the back of the bike so to speak.

Butcher (Devil Souls MC #3)

By Leann Ashers

Synopsis

He stalked me from the moment he saw me. He watched me day and night.

Butcher is what everyone calls crazy. They see all the tattoos and scars and to be honest, to most people he looks downright scary. He’s dangerous. He is after all the enforcer to the Devil Souls MC.

But to me? He’s just Butcher. I see him. I see who he really is. I see a man who will do anything for the people he cares about. I see the man who will protect and love me above everything else.

I am just as obsessed with him as he is me. I will die for him and he would kill for me.

What everyone doesn’t know is I have the same crazy inside of me…

Review

Butcher is a great fast paced romantic suspense story that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Butcher is highly protective and it did feel a bit odd at the start.  Plenty of mystery surrounds him because of being ex-service but we get to see behind the facade.  He really just wants his own family and it was wonderful to see him build that with Shaylin.

Shaylin had great charisma and was a very nurturing woman.  Her independence as the princess for the club and her love of guns was entertaining.  She was given a great balance of being tough but also feminine.

Having the chapters told from both perspectives helped to easily connect.  Their physical moments are memorable and range from sensitive to passionate.

Tiana played a  wonderful part of their love story along with Shaylin’s work colleagues at her bakery.  I was surprised at some of the revelations and definitely did not pick all the players trying to hurt Shay.

The Devil Souls Motorcycle club was back in full force backing up Butcher.  I am looking forward to reading her brother Lane’s love story.

My only complaint with this story is the Epilogue, it should have stopped at a beautiful point for Shay and Butcher as this was their story. Personally, the epilogue being extended to paragraphs on Tiana and Zach, in the end, felt rushed

By Piper Davenport

But when he finds himself thrust into the unwanted role of guardian, he realizes the good girl that captures his heart might just save his soul.

But Dash needs to figure out how to protect Willow from a threat buried deep in her past before it’s too late. sert Synopsis Here

Review

Dash and Willow were two great characters in Saving the Preacher’s Daughter.  Willow embraced her faith and evolved as a woman wanting to live her life.
Willow’s life choices made sense particularly as she was already was on a path of reflection with Brad.   It was surprising that Brad simply faded away.  I kind of expected him to fight a bit more for Willow against Dash.
Saving the Preacher’s Daughter moved at a good pace particularly around the funeral.  The build up of their emotional and physical relationship progressed well.
Willow was strong and although demure at the start she stood her ground throughout this story.
The crossover with the Dogs of Fire was great and the MC story was more of a backdrop. One character that was a standout for me was the father figure Gator.  The way he guided these two young people was heartwarming.
Finally, I love reading the Dogs of Fire series.   The way Piper gives us some mystery, humour, a bit of spice and women with fire is great.

For a time, the relationship seems perfect, but Lucky is struggling with a secret that could destroy the club. How can he move against club leadership knowing that Kori will be caught in the crossfire?

Review

Lucky is another solid story in the No Prisoners MC Romance Series and is now my favorite due in part to Kori.

Kori was an amazing character, I loved her emotion and strength and then to be treated the way she was by her father I was devastated for her.  When she had to stand up and protect Lucky I had to walk away from the story I was so emotional and scared for her.

The underlying drama story definitely keeps you on your toes.  Lucky had some demons to overcome when the realization of what Kori did to keep him safe.   I was surprised at his ability to walk away from Kori for a month at the MC Club.

It was great to return to see how all the No Prisoner members and their partners and how their lives were progressing.

I love the cover of this story and the flow kept me engaged to the end.

Wicked Kiss (Realm Enforcers #4)

By Rebecca Zanetti

Synopsis

Working as an informant for the DEA, Victoria Monzelle is used to living on the edge. But she’s not a big fan of getting kidnapped. And definitely not by a bunch of bad boy witches with fancy-colored fire to shoot at people. So when Adam Dunne shows up and claims to be a witch enforcer, she’s not going to put her life in his hands based on his word, no matter how smooth and smart and beautifully Irish his words sound. But on the run from a tribunal of witches, she isn’t going to make it far . . .

Before she knows it, Adam’s word is all that stands between her and execution. Sophisticated, just-gotta-ruffle-him Adam has vowed to make her his one eternal mate, wild and unpredictable as she is-to save her from a sentence of certain death. But Tori isn’t interested in being anyone’s pity date. And if they think she’s unpredictable now, they should see what’s coming next . . .

Review

In Wicked Kiss we are taken on an adrenaline ride from beginning to end.  Rebecca Zanetti gave us a treat with Adam Dunne.  We were given some insight into Adam in Wicked Burn when he came to help Nikolaj Veis and Simone Brightston.  Tori was kidnapped with Bear and brought to Ireland.  She was thrown into a world that she didn’t know existed and now she is given a death sentence by the head of the Council for the things that she has seen unless she mates Adam Dunne.

I adored Adam.  He is in a tough position trying to stay an enforcer while his family is in hiding plus keeping Tori safe.  He knows that she is special but he doesn’t know in what way.  He is also working undercover trying to find out who is making Apollo.

Tori has no idea what’s going on.  She has been taken and now she has to figure out how to get out of a bad situation.  Tori is head strong and will not be forced into anything.  She also has secrets of her own.  She has a gift that no one else knows about.

I had so much fun with this story.  It has everything that I have come to love about this series in the perfect balance.  Including Humour, tons of action and a little heartache with a romance. Adam and Tori are perfect for each other but getting these two together is challenging.  I especially liked Tori.  She knew she was different and realized that made her special. There is a lot that goes on in this story and I don’t want to give any spoilers away.  I can’t wait for Bear’s story.

A Nun Goes to Jail (Nun-Fiction Series #2)

By Piper Davenport

Synopsis

18+ for language and sexual situations…

Alexa Romanov hails from Russian Mob royalty, but she’s keeping a secret…one that could get her killed. When she’s forced to hide in a Catholic Abbey, she finds herself face-to-face with the man who broke her heart years ago…good thing time has healed that wound and she’s over him.

Reese Alden has fought his way out of a deadly and notorious Motorcycle Club, but he’s done it at great sacrifice. He lost the only woman he ever loved and now she might die because he let her go.

He must move heaven and earth, not to mention circumvent the Russian mob and a deadly MC, in order to keep her safe. But his goal isn’t just to save her life. It’s also to win her back.

Review

Full disclosure here I have read NINE of Piper Davenport’s books and her Dogs of Fire is one of my favourite MC series and A Nun Walks into a Bar (Nun-Fiction Book #1) was one of my favourite reads for 2016.   So when I was offered book 2, I was like “SCORE” for Lulu as all my reviews for this author are either four or five stars as I love her characters and how she tells her stories.

So I have to be honest and admit that A Nun Goes to Jail just did not connect with me, the story left me feeling a bit un-fulfilled – it felt rushed and pushed aside for too many sex scenes.  Perhaps it is me because I really loved the characters and the humour and we also get to see more of Sadie and Ryder who I love so I am really trying to figure out where I went wrong?

I enjoyed the characters and loved seeing  my favourites from the Dogs of Fire however I did feel that the overall Russian/Mob/MC suspense got really lost and I for one really enjoy a good dose of that in my romance.  Loved mentioning the “Roses for Anna” concert in the story as the “Broken Road” series is going to rock “pun intended”!!

Towards the middle all I seemed to be reading about was Alexa and Reese having sex and this is where the base story got lost.  I did find myself thinking stop having sex I want to know what is happening with the trial, where are the Russians and the ending felt rushed and what about the other girls at the convent and also her friend and brother?  I wanted Reese to be more alpha male protective with her instead of wanting to have sex if that makes sense, there were pockets of moments I went yes now I can see the emotional connection, when he sneaks in and holds her after her breakdown, these were moments of romance that I savoured.

Finally I did like how the author fast forwarded three years to see how their lives had changed.

One Taste of Angel: A Dark Virgin Romance (Iron Norseman MC)

By Violetta Rand

Synopsis

Their love was the stuff of Shakespeare – two star-crossed lovers from rival MC’s, divided by their families’ bloody history, but fate has given Eagle and Serafina a second chance. Can the biker and the stripper find their redemption in Violetta Rand’s sexy standalone romance, One Taste of Angel?

Eagle
I’ve bled for my club. Taken four bullets. Buried eight brothers in six years. Screwed a hundred women. And only loved one. The one I lost. But there’s something about Serafina that reminds me of just exactly what was taken from me. Not just because I can’t resist a damsel in distress.

Serafina
To Eagle, I’m dead. Murdered and cremated, my ashes interred at the local cemetery. Part of a past I left long ago to save his life. Seeing him now, touching him again makes me weak, even if he doesn’t recognize the woman I’ve become. Since my escape from Holly Beach five years ago, I’ve lived by my own rules. And no matter how much I love Eagle, he’s not going to break those rules.

Review

Eagle and Angel, two lovers reunited and what an explosive story which I totally devoured.

It really is a MC Romeo and Juliet with the tales of two families entwined in a dark, dangerous but in the end romantic tale of new beginnings and second chances at love.

Whilst reading this story you are basically taken on a roller coaster ride waiting for all the secrets to be revealed and how the both MC clubs are going to react to the revelations – the author does not disappoint at all.

The family dynamics of Angel are brutal and barbaric and had me fearing the worst for her.  Eagle’s club family were great characters with heart and soul and supported this story and gave it hope and light when it became intense.

My favourite chapters were when he realised who Seraphina really was and how they both reacted and the emotional turmoil I felt for Angel upon those pages was heartbreaking.  I also loved the scenes around the cabin – loved those parts.

I loved the epilogue, it gives you closure and also the fact we are given thoughts from both characters so you can really connect to them and this suspense element at the end was perfect for a MC romance.
