Synopsis

He wants the world and the admiration of everyone in it.

Sean Taiden, the inconspicuous drummer of Reckless Beat, is sick of living in the shadows of his bandmates’ success. He’ll do anything to gain the recognition he deserves. Even if it means dancing in a music video to the Reckless track that drives a knife into his broken heart whenever he hears it. The saving grace is the tempting choreographer who may be the one person able to distract him from the agony his life has become.

All she wants is the peace that comes with solitude.

Melody Jenkins knows all about fame. She knows enough to determine she doesn’t want a part of it anymore. After quitting her professional dance career, she set up a quiet studio and focused on starting a new beginning away from prying eyes. Until a sexy drummer strides into her life, making her crave something she can’t have while also pushing her to expose secrets she can’t bear to reveal.

Conflicting aspirations and one inextinguishable passion.

She needs to hide from the world she once owned. He wants to rise to the top, proving to himself and his friends that he’s always been the heartbeat of the band. Caught between what they need and what they want, Melody and Sean have to decide which is more important—their individual plans for the future or their feelings for one another.

Review

If you’ve read UNDESIRED LUST, you know that Sean had a thing for Mason’s fiancé, Sidney.  In SULTRY GROOVE, he is still hung up on her and is desperate to get both her and his desires out of his mind.  But that’s hard to do when the happy couple is showcasing their love at every turn.  For Sean, that’s just another grievance to add to his growing list of frustrations.  Fed up with being the lowest member on the Reckless Beat totem pole and delegated to the background, Sean needs a distraction, something to get his mind off losing the girl and not achieving the level of fame he feels he deserves.

Enter Melody, the choreographer hired to teach Sean the dance routine for their next music video.  To Sean, she’s the perfect distraction.  But Melody has issues of her own, issues that forced her to give up her career as a sought after dancer and the fame and adoration that came with it.  She keeps everyone at arms length to make sure no-one knows why she walked away from a perfect life.  But she’s unable and unwilling to keep Sean out of her self-imposed bubble.

This was another great story, but I have to say I didn’t enjoy it as much as the previous books.  My only issue with it was the near constant complaining coming from Sean and Melody about how crappy their lives are.  Both have serious confidence issues and are very down on themselves, which probably makes them perfect for each other.  Together they’re hot, Sean especially with his dominant ways.  In the end, Melody helps Sean realise what’s really important in life, while Sean helps Melody to realise that a single flaw does not make a person less beautiful.

I can’t wait to hear Ryan’s story.

Sean:  “I don’t need you to say it back.  In fact, I’d prefer if you didn’t say anything at all.  I just want you to know how much I care for you.  You’re my world.”
