Pack Challenge (Magnus Pack # 1)

RBTS Pack Challenge

Synopsis

What’s an Alpha Male to do when he meets the Alpha Female of his dreams?

Step one, hide all sharp objects.

All Zach Sheridan ever wanted was to become Alpha Male of his Pack and be left alone. What he definitely didn’t need in his life was some needy female demanding his attention. What he never saw coming was the vicious, scarred female who not only demanded his attention but knew exactly how to get it.

Sara Morrighan knew this was the best she could expect from her life. Good friends. A nice place to live. And a safe job. But when Zach rode into her small Texas town with his motorcycle club, Sara knew she wanted more. She knew she wanted him. But after one sexy encounter with her dream biker, everything is starting to change. Her body. Her strength. That new thing she’s doing with the snarling.

Even her best friends are starting to wonder what’s going on with her. But this is only the beginning. Sara’s about to find out her life was meant for so much more. And Zach’s about to find true love with the one woman who makes him absolutely insane.

Review

So after reading several new books and authors recently, I felt like revisiting an older series that I’ve read and enjoyed a couple of times before, The Magnus Pack.  PACK CHALLENGE is Book 1 of 3 in the series and we’re introduced to Zach and Sara.  Both are wolf shifters, although because of her grandmother, Sara doesn’t know what she is.

Initially, Zach arrives in town with his Pack to protect Sara from the Pride, which is hell bent on exacting revenge for a decades old feud.  A feud that saw Sara’s mother killed when she was 1, and her father killed when she was 8.  It was in that attack that Sara was left with facial scarring and a severe leg injury which causes her unbearable pain as the years go on.  Because of her scarring, most men act like she doesn’t exist.  But not Zach.  He takes one look at her and sees the amazing (yet psychotic) woman who could be the Alpha Female.  The bigger the bitch, the more he falls.

While the entire story takes place over just a few days, the connection and attraction between Zach and Sara cannot be denied, and one thing I like about Shelly’s book is the humour.

Sara:  Dammit, what is he thinking?
Zach:  I’d give my eye teeth to have this woman sitting on my face right now.

and

Zach:  “We’re not having this discussion anymore.”
Sara:  “Is this you being all in charge?”
Zach:  “Where you’re concerned, I am in charge.”
Sara:  “Are you happy in your land of delusions?  Are you king there?”

But my favourite parts of Shelly’s books are the dominant and animalistic sex scenes?  You know the ones I’m talking about.  Where the guy practically throws the woman up against the wall, rips her panties right off her body, impales her with one thrust and has her coming in seconds.  And then does it again on the kitchen bench.  And again bent over the end of the couch.  And so on until they finally reach the bed.  Oh, and the biting.  I love the biting.

Why do I recommend this book?  Because it’s funny.  Because despite reading it three or four times, I still get tingly in all the right spots.  And I just love all the characters.  Not just the main two, but the supporting characters as well.  They’re all just a little bit bitchy, crazy, funny and loyal.  All characteristics I like in my friends.
