Any woman would be eager to be Ryan Williams’s mate. Any woman but Glory Walsh. The sexy bear shifter is beautiful, strong and persistent, she’ll give him that. But Glory’s past taught her one simple truth: people leave. She can’t get past the fact he left her once before. Okay, so he had a good reason, and he did come back. Try convincing her emotions.
When Glory finally agrees to a date, Ryan feels like shouting hallelujah. He only left his mate to hunt down the man who’d shot her, but convincing the stubborn woman she has a permanent place at his side is tougher than he thought.
Their date takes a turn for the bizarre when Glory thanks Ryan for the series of romantic gifts—gifts Ryan never sent. It seems her past is coming back to bite her, and before it has a chance to sink its teeth in and tear her out of his life, Ryan will have to bare it all, right down to his soul, to protect the woman he loves. Even from herself.
What can I say about BEAR NAKED? That’s easy: Bravo Ms Bell. Bravo!!! Another fantastic read.
BEAR NAKED is about Glory and Ryan and starts with Glory finally agreeing to go on a date with Ryan. I say finally because he’s only been trying for about a year since discovering she’s his mate.
Glory: “Why do you want to go on a date?”
Ryan: “Because I want you. Not just in my bed, but in my life.”
Glory: “Because I’m your mate.”
Ryan: “Because you’re Glory.”
It’s on that first date they realise Glory has a stalker, and somehow (I’m not sure how) they come to the conclusion it has something to do with Glory’s twin sister Hope, who went missing (presumed dead) several years ago. Together with the help of family, friends and the community, they’re able to determine who’s behind the most recent attacks in Halle and solve a cold case. The original threat that started in BEAR NECESSITIES remains unsolved and is clearly working up to a big finale given the characters that are arriving in the once quiet town.
I have been following Ms Bell since September 2010 after reading BEAR NECESSITIES, book 1 in this series. It was love at first read. The humour. The characters. The hot sex. And that scene on the bike? Phwoar.
I quickly realised I’d missed something with that book, so after checking out her website, I found there was a whole series that came out before BEAR NECESSITIES. Two days later, I went and bought all five books in her Halle Puma series. I did not regret it and I doubt you will.
These series are one of my favourites, so much so that I don’t care that it costs me $5.00 per book and it’ll be finished in a few hours. As soon as I see a new book out, it’s bought and paid for.
If you haven’t done so already, I recommend reading the Halle Pumas series and books 1 & 2 in this series before reading this book. This is not a stand-alone and as the series goes on it refers more and more to characters and events from the previous books. While reading the Poconos Pack series is not vital to the two Halle series, I would still recommend reading it. You never know when they might intersect in a big way.
